Description:

We are currently seeking a Senior Field Supervisor to join our Orlando, FL Facilities Refrigeration and Energy Management team! The purpose of this position is to manage, supervise, and schedule the execution of all aspects of HVAC and refrigeration system preventive maintenance and service within a geographic area by Publix Refrigeration Technicians (Levels 1, 2, and 3). Responsibilities include:

  • managing direct reports for the purpose of associate hiring, selection, scheduling, development, and accountability to execute our strategic objectives and to promote an environment of growth

  • evaluating and performing full rack refrigeration system preventive maintenance and repairs, HVAC system preventive maintenance and repairs, remote case preventive maintenance and repairs, and Energy Management System (EMS) general maintenance and repairs on retail facilities

  • performing housekeeping duties

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.

Required Qualifications:

  • HVAC or Refrigeration Trade school completion or its equivalent

  • 5 years working in supermarket refrigeration service OR

  • 5 years as a Refrigeration Technician 3

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Must be 21 years old

  • EPA Universal License

  • Knowledge of Workforce Management Principles

  • Knowledge of all skills and abilities of the Refrigeration Technician 1 and 2position

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics involving integrated systems of electrical, EMS, mechanical, refrigeration, and plumbing

  • Ability to weld/solder copper pipe of various sizes utilizing oxy-acetylene torch

  • Ability to weld/solder copper pipe to brass and steel valves or fittings

  • Ability to read electrical schematic diagrams to determine the sequence of operation

  • Ability to connect and calibrate electrical devices such as current sensing relays, transducers, magnetic switches

  • Ability to diagnose transformers primary and secondary voltages

  • Ability to connect and use a megohmmeter to determine the status of an AC motor winding

  • Ability to change both external oil filters as well as internal oil filters

  • Ability to read and interpret oil analysis reports and utilize the information to anticipate repairs

  • Ability to select the proper oil for a given application

  • Ability to identify contaminants in oil and the problems each causes

  • Ability to install and align various direct drive couplings

  • Ability to properly diagnose pump issues utilizing pressure gauges and flow meters

  • Knowledge of electromechanical ball valves ahead of the heat exchangers

  • Ability to diagnose and repair pump issues using pressure readings and amperage draw

  • Ability to determine proper rotation using only an ammeter

  • Ability obtain pressure and amperage readings to determine compressor performance

  • Ability to isolate and evacuate a condenser

  • Ability to program multi fan split condensers

  • Knowledge of EMS Programming communication protocols

  • Knowledge of the different rack configurations (i.e. parallel racks split config/loop/glycol/ dual stage)

  • Knowledge of the oil return system including the discharge oil separator

  • Knowledge of electronic CDS setup and operation

  • Knowledge of the use of a psychometric chart

  • Knowledge of how to diagnose and resolve high humidity issues

  • Knowledge of dual path air conditioner operations systems

  • Ability to diagnose and repair gas hot water heating systems

  • Knowledge of electronic and mechanical expansion valves and how to diagnose and remedy issues with either

  • Knowledge of electronically commutated and shaded pole evaporator fan motors and how to diagnose and remedy issues with either

  • Expert knowledge of refrigerant management and usage:

  • Application of the EPA Clean Air act sections 608 and 609 in refrigerant capture, reclamation, and documentation

  • Understanding of various refrigerants and their usage

  • Ability to determine which refrigerants are in use when not marked on a schematic or labelling

  • Intermediate knowledge of:

  • EMS and Case Controller Programming Languages

  • Outlook

  • Willingness to work flexible hours

  • Must be able to lift/lower/climb ladders/walk on roofs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced course training in CO2, building automation, and energy management

  • 7 years working in supermarket refrigeration service OR

  • 7 years as a Refrigeration Technician 3 AND

  • 1 year in a field service supervisory/management role

  • Knowledge of HR processes and policies to include Discipline, Performance Evaluation, Development Planning, EEOC, etc.

  • Knowledge and understanding of company and department policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of Publix Retail store operations

  • Ability to direct connect a laptop to the EMS A panel, backup and restore a program

  • Ability to read the schematics and identify sequence of operation of a CO2 system

  • Ability to write over a program in the EMS system for a remodel or service issue

  • Ability to diagnose and repair case controllers

  • Knowledge of oven hood air management systems and ability to diagnose and repair

  • Ability to program, diagnose and troubleshoot electronically controlled oven hood systems

  • Knowledge of how to program the load shedding operations on a genset

  • Ability to perform load tests

  • Ability to load shed remotely during a storm to balance power usage

  • Ability to hookup, start, load, and troubleshoot mobile generators for 500Kw units
