The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Orlando site is part of Global Business Services (GBS). GBS has global accountability to deliver an exceptional customer experience and create business value through compliance, standardization and data analytics. The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team supporting the consolidation and reporting of monthly financial results, including driving business insights. This team member will work closely with all operational aspects of the business to support day-to-day and month end accounting functions with quality, accuracy and integrity. This individual will own delegated accounts and have an intimate understanding of the financial statements produced to ensure compliance. This role involves not only managing day-to-day accounting functions but also driving continuous process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will analyze current workflows, identify areas for enhancement, and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. By fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, you will ensure that our processes remain streamlined and aligned with organizational goals.

What You’ll Work On

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, month-end close, and financial reporting

  • Perform detailed financial data analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and performance improvements

  • Lead the implementation of process improvements and automation projects to increase productivity and reduce manual effort

  • Optimize accounting processes and workflows to ensure streamlined operations and compliance with accounting standards

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver actionable financial insights

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through regular data validation and reconciliation processes

  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing clear explanations and recommendations

  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff in best practices and process improvements

  • Conduct and document complex financial processes

  • Understands data validation techniques

  • Regularly ensure that reporting delivered to internal customers is accurate, rich in actionable content and useful

  • Provide recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures

  • Aid in documenting and monitoring controls to support audit readiness

  • Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the finance team and/or other departments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and process optimization

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., JDE, SAGE, SAP) and advanced Excel skills

  • Strong experience with data analytics tools and techniques (e.g., SQL, Power BI, PowerQuery, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred

The base pay for this position is $72,700.00 – $145,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
