Role Overview

The Laboratory Technician position is responsible for providing QA/QC support for daily site operations. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, performing testing and analysis for raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, customer samples, data analysis and reporting, coordinating other inspections and/or release of material in LIMS/SAP, verifications, PMs, calibrations, troubleshooting of laboratory equipment, reagent, equipment, consumable inventory control, as well as other functions necessary to support laboratory operations.

Primary Duties

• Prepare standards. Record, prepare, test and track samples throughout the lab process.

• Perform quality assurance activities to verify the capability of equipment and methods.

• Assemble, dismantle, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and calibrate analytical test equipment.

• Perform test method reviews to ensure compliance.

• Work as necessary with the lab team to complete workload and prioritize analyses to support plant operations.

• Understand and adhere to site safety rules, policies and programs.

• Assist in training of others on lab tech responsibilities when requested.

• Maintain lab areas in a clean, safe, and well-organized manner.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support site operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry preferred.

• Associates degree or related laboratory technician certification with experience will be considered. (See Minimum Educational Requirements Below)

• Formal training in general laboratory procedures.

• General computer experience with standard software packages. (Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS)

• Experience with LIMS and GC software is highly preferred but not required.

• Experience with analytical equipment and instrumentation, such as: GC, Karl Fisher, Auto-Titrators and Colorimeter preferred.

• Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.

Minimum Educational Requirements

• Chemistry - 23 hours - courses include General Chemistry I and II with labs, Instrumentational Analysis with lab, and Organic Chemistry I and II with labs. Examples of other science courses to meet the 23 hours of Chemistry credit are: Biochemistry, Qualitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Instrument Analysis, Environmental Chemistry, Seminar in Chemistry, Chemical Research, Advanced Chemistry, Organic Synthesis

• Physics/Science - 4 hours - Introductory Physics, General Physics, Biology, General Science

• Mathematics - 3 hours - College Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics
