Job Description

The Materials Manager is responsible for production scheduling, inventory management, raw material and supply planning, as well as procurement for Performance Tapes North America.  This role will manage a team of schedulers and buyers to establish production schedules based on customer demand and inventory requirements, plan and order necessary direct materials, and coordinate the procurement of indirect supplies.  In this role, you will report directly to the Regional Service, Materials and Logistics Manager.  

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervise a team and work in a hands-on role that will include production planning and purchasing responsibilities

  • Implement and standardize processes related to scheduling, logistics and purchasing 

  • Partner with the Customer Service team to ensure production schedules are aligned with standard lead times and customer needs, as appropriate.

  • Manage material flow throughout the manufacturing site and offsite warehouses

  • Assist procurement in managing suppliers

  • Manage inventory performance with a focus on raw materials and lead Supply Chain improvement efforts to exceed facility operational targets

  • Work with Operations and product line teams to establish purchasing business rules that best achieve service responsiveness, productivity, and loss objectives

  • Provide support and organizational linkages to Supply Chain, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, and Purchasing

  • Provide functional support to Leadership Team in logistics, purchasing and capacity management

  • Lead or participate in product transitions to reduce service interruptions

  • Initiate actions to simplify plant materials and purchasing-related processes in order to reduce overall plant lead time

  • Plays an integral part in the S&OP Process for the site and division

  • Perform general management duties, exercising authority concerning staffing needs, training needs, performance appraisals, skill development, timekeeping, consistent application of organizational policies, promotions, and terminations

  • Perform other tasks as assigned

     

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or a technical field

  • 5+ years proven experience production control and inventory management

  • Excellent leadership skills and previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to work in a team environment and take ownership to resolve issues

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to proactively identify and meet customer needs

  • Continuous improvement focus with effective results

  • Experience with production control in highly productive, varied product mix environment

  • Strong digital literacy with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office (Excel) and function specific software and planning systems (MFGPro, DS/DSRP)

Preferred

  • APICS or similar supply chain certification a plus
