DePuy Synthes, part of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies is currently recruiting for a Senior Manager, R&D Operations and Project Management located in Raynham, Massachusetts or Palm Beach Gardens, FL or West Chester, PA.

This Senior Manager of role will play an exciting role in shaping the way we carry out projects to improve health for humanity at Depuy Synthes! It will enable you to provide managerial direction for the franchise Project Management Organization (PMO) and will work closely with the DePuy Synthes R&D Leadership Team and all multi-functional partners supporting product development to ensure alignment, accountability and focus for effective execution of critical R&D programs. The primary objective of the franchise PMO is driving prioritization of New Product Development (NPD) programs that meet our business unit strategies, creating portfolio perspectives that enable decision making and tracking critical metrics as they progress from charter through launch in target markets. Other objectives include management and delivery of the departmental budget and resources, communication and reporting to various corporate partners, management of shared service priorities, partnering with other NPD departments (i.e. supply chain, quality, regulatory) to proactively identify challenges and mitigate them, and driving continuous improvement of our PMO excellence, culture, and execution results.

In this role, you will lead in the development of new franchise wide business processes, tools & skills to include coordinated resource management, project prioritization & change control and integrated dashboards. You will also work with platform project management & cross functional leaders to mature core project management capabilities to enable NPD and E2E portfolio management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Platform PMO and Finance leaders to drive the R&D Business Process (Business Planning, June Update, November Update, R&D Multi-Year Planning)

  • Act as DRI / SME for key portfolio management systems and tools (Planisware, dashboards, Smartsheet)

  • Lead ongoing efforts to advance our capabilities in existing processes (e.g., Project Chartering, Boundary Agreement Escalation) and build new tools or processes to advance capabilities.

  • Partner with R&D Leadership, Platform PMOs, and multi-functional teams to advance resource management capabilities across the organization

  • Lead regular connections with the Cross Platform R&D PMO Managers, with a focus on development of PMO Best Practices and execution of key business processes, and co-lead the bi-annual PMO Community of Practice

  • Responsible for report outs at critical executive governance committees/boards and manages the R&D analyst role.

  • Drive franchise level planning, development and portfolio management for the Life Cycle Management organization that integrates into R&D BP process

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • B.S. in engineering, health sciences or relevant technical field

  • 8 years of experience of product development, Or project management, and/or strategy development

  • 5 years of planning & budgeting experience at the project or platform level

  • Project management mastery demonstrated through 5 years of several significant project management experiences.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for developing creative solutions and meeting project objectives

  • Proven influence, collaboration and conflict resolution skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and lead teams without direct reporting authority.

  • Established success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment

  • Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 35%.

Preferred

  • Change management experience

  • Six sigma certification (green or black belt certification)

  • PMP certification

  • Strategic communications planning and execution

  • A growth mindset and can demonstrate outstanding leadership, influence, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Strong technical expertise, an intuition for business, strategic planning, and execution

The anticipated base salary for this position is $132,000 to $232,000 based on experience
