Position Overview:

As part of the talented Mold Repair team, you will be responsible for inspection, repair, replace and troubleshoot molds that are used in creating the Unsinkable Legend. Perform daily mold repair functions such as fixing cracks, imperfections, replacing and fixing hardware and mold maintenance to prevent sticking. This position repairs molds in accordance with Boston Whaler specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Understanding proper use and maintenance of all tools and equipment to include, spray guns, hand and power tools, sanders, and buffers.

  • Record proper documentation of all mold repairs performed.

  • Understand proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools.

  • Knowledge on how to use and dispose of all chemicals.

  • Ensuring molds are repaired in accordance with proper procedures.

  • Spray gelcoat, paste and paint patches.

  • Process the ability to wet and dry sand of patches and other repairs made.

  • Fix, Adjust and add Hardware to molds such as toggles, casters, airlinges, air toggles, line-up pins and rotating pins, in accordance with specifications.

  • Clean, buff and wax molds.

  • Making sure all work is performed in a safe manner.

  • May perform other duties as necessary.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements could include safety glasses, hard hats, full face respirators, dust masks, gloves, and chemical resistant suits

  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching

  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (may be above 100 ambient degrees or below 10 ambient degrees in areas of production)

  • Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast paced, noisy environment

  • Ability to work overtime (planned and unplanned)

Required Qualifications:

  • Must follow all safety and quality standards at all times, including chemical handling standards and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Must have 2 years of experience in finishing, pasting and painting, wet/dry sanding, lamination, and gelcoat

  • At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints

  • Experience using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions

  • Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English

  • High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proactive team player who is a self-starter with constant attention to improvement.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.

  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with other team members.

  • Basic skills in forklift, overhead hoist, and computer skills preferred

  • Physical dexterity and the ability to perform tasks that may involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

  • Must have basic reading comprehension and writing skills, be able to work from verbal and written instructions, be capable of working with computer terminals and be able to complete routine paperwork.

  • Ability to remain extremely focused and organized with a high-attention to detail / high degree of accuracy.

  • Able to work with multiple priorities and people.

  • Marine experience preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and method

Working Conditions:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements will include eye protection, dust masks, respirators, hearing protection, gloves, and protective suits

  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching

Shifts:

This position could be for night shift - Sunday - Wednesday 5:00 - 3:30 am. Overtime frequently required based on business needs. Boston Whaler reserves the right to adjust shifts and times as business needs arise.

*An hourly premium shift differential is available for employees working night shift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $19.00 - $29.42, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
