Description: 1. Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Engineer – Level 4

2. You will be the Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Engineer for the Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Software team. Our team is responsible for supporting requirements generation, design, software integration, qualification, verification, and validation of Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) algorithms for missile applications.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Guidance, Navigation, & Control (GNC) Engineer you will be responsible planning, conducting, and coordinating software development activities and ensuring software standards are met. Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment

• Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle

• Apply knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software

• Correct program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls

A level 4 employee typically has 9-15 years of technical experience.

• Working development and design work

• Guiding and coordinating work with equipment vendors

• Presenting, coordinating, and collaborating with government customers and partners under the general direction of technology roadmap and program leadership

The ideal candidate has general knowledge of vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, classical/modern control and estimation theory to conduct difficult aerospace engineering tasks for autonomous flight systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Engineering degree in Aeronautics/Aerospace or other related engineering degree or related engineering or technical field

• Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and/or C++

• Prior hands-on experience with Guidance, Navigation, and/or Controls (GNC) design and analysis

Desired Skills:

• Prior experience with 6DOF and/or 3DOF simulation development and maintenance

• Autopilot and guidance algorithm design and analysis

• Autocode generation and integration with OFP

• Modeling and integration of GNC algorithms with targeting sensors in 6DOF simulation

• System level performance characterization

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $105,000 - $201,100 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $120,700 - $227,400. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
