Lockheed Martin Material Applicator - Aircraft Painter 3x12 weekend shift in Palmdale, California

Description: Performs spray, wipe, brush, dip, adhesives or heat application, of surface covering to parts and assemblies exercising a complete knowledge of procedures and techniques related to surface preparation, application of material, equipment utilized, specifications and safety procedures to be followed. Works to blueprints, operation sheets, production illustrations, process bulletins and other authorized engineering documents. Uses precision measuring equipment, including electronic devices, to check and determine that proper thickness requirements meet specifications of work being performed.

Performs rework, modifications and touch up of the level of difficulty of the operations described above.

PERFORMS SUCH RELATED DUTIES AS:

Performs surface preparation by cleaning, stripping, sanding, masking, and all necessary operations required prior to application of surface coverings.

Identifies surface imperfections and makes corrections using approved procedures.

Checks thickness of applied material between coats to assure correct tolerances are being maintained.

Operates air and airless equipment as required. Moves, positions, and stores such equipment as portable air mover ventilators or exhaust units and safety lights. Maintains and stores spray guns, pressure pots, hoses, respirators, and other similar safety devices. Maintains good housekeeping as required.

Places parts and assemblies drying ovens, sets and monitors temperature and time requirements.

Identifies surface imperfections and makes corrections using approved procedures. Applies aerodynamic fillers to seams or voids and builds up surfaces to conform to aircraft configurations.

Checks material expiration dates and viscosities, and mixes materials as required.

Files, recountersinks, trims, burrs, and operates such equipment as power sanders as required.

Ability to obtain and maintain Company licenses, certifications, and training as required for assigned tasks as required by the Company and/or customer.

***Must be able work 3x12 schedule Fri, Sat, Sunday***

Basic Qualifications:

Must possess a minimum of one year of painting experience such as spray material application, surface preparation and fill and fair.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Clearance Level: Secret

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

The base range for this position in California is $24.77 - 42.45.
