Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer (T03)/Sr. Principal Engineer (T04) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA, and requires working weekends full time.

Essential Functions:

  • Candidate will evaluate nonconforming mechanical or electrical subsystems products and systems such as Electrical routing, including cables, harnesses, and power/signal; and LRU electrical interfaces.

  • He/She will apply research to the design, development, testing, and rehabilitation of nonconforming mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, in the noted fields.

Qualifications:

Note: This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Engineer Mechanical (T03) Level or Sr Principal Engineer, Mechanical (T04) Level .

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer Mechanical (T03)

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university, minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, or Master's Degree with 3 years of experience or PhD with 0 years of experience.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience developing repairs and other dispositions

Sr Principal Engineer Mechanical (T04)

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university, minimum of 9 years of engineering experience or Master's Degree with 7 years of experience or PhD with 4 years of experience.

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience developing repairs and other dispositions

Preferred Qualifications:

Principal Engineer Mechanical (T03)

  • Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university, minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience.

  • Active Secret DOD Security Clearance (last investigation date within 6 years)

  • Experience with NX, Catia v5, and/or MES.

  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

  • Previous MRB experience, including MRB authority

  • Familiarity with Project Planning and scheduling, cost control and change control

  • Experience with Aviation Subsystems such as one of the following: Fuel, Hydraulics, ECS, Thermal Dynamics & Electrical Power Generation, Flight Controls, Landing Gear and others

Sr Principal Engineer Mechanical (T04)

  • Masters Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university, minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, or PhD with 0 years of experience.
