Job Description

We're hiring a Project Engineer to work at our Pasadena, TX manufacturing site. This role reports to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, and will be a member of our dynamic engineering team. We offer a 9x80 work schedule and incorporate flexibility to support a work-life balance.

As a Project Engineer you will be accountable for the full project life cycle dedicated to our site capital projects typically up to $2MM.

Responsibilities

  • Manages facilities / infrastructure capital projects

  • Executes productivity projects

  • Is process / area knowledgeable and capable of executing projects to defined requirements

  • Identifies and documents potential projects

  • Closes out and documents completed projects

  • Develops project scopes, plans, and budgets/funding estimates at each stage gate with the appropriate level of detail, escalation and contingency per GPM guidelines and based on project size and complexity

  • Plays an active part in annual AOP development, producing high level estimates as needed to allow creation of a credible forecasting approach for the following budget year

  • Maintains an ongoing dialog with the Maintenance and TAR Scheduler/Planner to ensure project cost estimates and scopes are well aligned with TAR planning and timing when applicable

  • Is well versed in the Grace project workflow and requirements in regard to SAP, quotations, bidding, requisitions, purchasing and contracting practices, GRs, invoicing, accruals, and the project closure process

  • Ensures contractors and vendors understand job scope and safety/job expectations

  • Updates Accolade System and Electronic Engineering Folders for Project Details

  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives

  • Supports RCAs

  • Supports the training of site personnel

  • Conduct Management of Change (MOCs)

  • Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GPM and PSSR

  • Conducts Commissioning and Startup Activities

  • Conducts incident investigations, as needed

  • Supports Purchasing/GRs/New Vendors/Requisitions

  • Redlines Engineering Drawings and Documents

  • Manages engineering documents and drawings

  • Manage process information and updates for P&ID, MOC, Interlock Schedule, etc.

  • Assists with emergencies

  • Participates in the design during preliminary and detailed design phases of the projects

  • Ensures that functionality, operability and optimization

Physical Requirements and Environment

  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 7-10 years engineering experience with a chemical manufacturing plant.

  • Minimum of 3 years of project engineering experience

  • Must be able to maintain focus on Safety and Environmental in all activities

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment (leading and participating)

  • Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong ability to influence others

  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior coaching/mentoring of junior staff

  • Experience working in a PSM manufacturing environment
