United States Steel Corporation is looking for qualified interns to join our Global General Procurement team in Pittsburgh, PA. Our procurement department undergoes thorough analysis and strategic negotiations for indirect materials, services, and select direct materials for our numerous operating locations. We seek an intern who can participate in various stages of the procurement process along with special assignments. This individual will not only gain intimate corporate knowledge of procurement, but also gain networking exposure with individuals throughout the corporation and suppliers. We will provide tours of our operations to provide a basic understanding of what we do along with several social events with your peers. This intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of procurement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participants will intern performing procurement related functions pre-approved by the Procurement Team director to adapt their teachings from college.
They will learn USS’ business and learn to integrate themselves with the people and culture.
Internship assignments shadow the experience and responsibilities of Procurement professionals to ascertain their interest in Procurement. Participants will also participate in Procurement’s internal training courses.
The position will undergo various supply chain analyses, internal and external market research studies, data and process analysis for various levels within the organization.
Participants will also interact with various departments and management to demonstrate their communication skills.
Assignments are aimed at being challenging and rewarding.
Assignments and duties are driven by organizational and business needs.
Assignments could include one or more projects within the following areas:
Buying
Expediting
Leading a Sourcing Initiative
Market Intelligence
Spend Analysis
Cost Competitiveness Studies
Material Inventory
Tracking Procurement and Business Process
Requirements:
Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree.
Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2024 and be in good academic standing
3.5 or above GPA.
Educational Majors: Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Finance or Engineering
Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Strong communication skills
Negotiation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office, especially Excel
Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
Creative and Flexible
Personal Attributes Being Sought:
