Treasury plays a critical role at U. S. Steel and is key to the successful execution of the “Best for All” strategy. Treasury responsibilities are diverse – from raising capital through debt and equity, to extending credit to our customers. Treasury includes multiple functions, including Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Credit, and Cash and Banking.
U. S. Steel is seeking a treasury intern for summer 2025 in Pittsburgh, PA. As an intern, you will gain exposure to -each of the treasury functions.
The Corporate Finance team is responsible for managing a $4 billion debt portfolio, intercompany funding, oversight of the Company’s liquidity facilities, executing/tracking commodity and foreign exchange hedging strategies, credit rating agency interactions, and oversight of capital market transactions.
The Risk Management team manages all aspects related to insurable risks, from negotiating and renewing new policies to coordinating claims activities.
Credit assesses customer credit risks, approves customer payment terms and credit lines, manages the $1 billion North American accounts receivables portfolio.
Cash and Banking is responsible for managing North American cash management activities, including cash forecasting, investing surplus cash, cash pooling among US subsidiaries, and ensuring that cash is positioned to meet daily operating needs.
The internship will consist of a rotation in each Treasury function.
This is an internship position that is to last 12 weeks and is scheduled to begin no later than May 19, 2025.
The internship will be expected to work at the corporate office 2-3 days per week, and the remainder of the time will be remote.
Job Responsibilities:
Our goal is to assign one or more challenging and meaningful projects to you within the Treasury organization. Projects will be assigned based on business needs and personal interests.
Obtain an understanding of Treasury functions, while working cross functionally with all levels of the Treasury organization.
Assist the Treasury team as directed.
Job Requirements
Candidate must be working toward a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Finance. Other degrees will be considered such as economics, statistics, actuarial sciences, MIS, accounting, or other business or technical discipline.
Candidate must have completed or be working towards the completion of at least their sophomore year and be in good academic standing.
Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
Candidate must have a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.25 or higher.
Candidate must have experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Teams.
