Focus:

Contributes to crafting, developing, trouble shooting, debugging, evaluating, modifying, deploying and documenting all data components (data architecture, logical and physical data models, database objects and database administration) that meet the needs of customer-facing applications, business applications, and/or internal end user applications.

Organizational Context:

Entry-level position. Member of a data management and database development team reporting to a Senior Data Engineer, Engineering Director or Director of Technical Delivery.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Reviews data requirements / data stories and corresponding data sources and data architecture

  • Documents data requirements / data stories and maintains data models to ensure flawless integration into existing data architectures

  • Supports management of data assets as per the enterprise standards, guidelines and policies

  • Reviews and understands the processing requirements inclusive of data and transaction volumes, scalability, security and performance requirements

  • Assists in building and improving the database design and infrastructure required to support the Business portfolio

  • Assists in performing database design review and supports database testing

  • Provides production environment support for database systems and processes

  • Communicates and works closely with business and product teams to support changes and implementation

  • Function as an active member if an agile team through consistent development practices (tools, components, and documentation)

  • Finds opportunities to adopt innovative technologies

  • Takes part in reviews of own work or with colleagues

  • Work on prioritized/assigned features for ongoing sprints

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Minimum 5 years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:

  • Understanding of Agile or other rapid application development methods

  • Exposure to design and development on Oracle or more database management systems (e.g. PostgreSQL, Cassandra) as appropriate

  • Exposure Oracle data model design for high critical OLTP applications

  • Performance tuning & monitoring using OEM & custom shell scripts

  • Understanding to newer app frameworks and their interactions with Databases

  • Expert on Oracle RAC configuration and tuning

  • Understanding and experience on Application continuity.

  • Expert on Oracle Capacity planning & resource management.

  • Understanding on Exadata appliance.

  • Expert on Goldengate configuration and support

  • Dataguard setup and tuning

  • Knowledge on RMAN

  • Connection pool manager knowledge ( Hikari & UCP)

  • Good understanding and Technical knowledge of DBMS products and ecosystem – e.g. storage formats, access algorithms, data management processes, administration, data maintenance, replication, high availability, encryption, etc.”

  • General knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational & non-relational databases

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred

  • Able to understand and use data structures and associated components

  • Basic understanding of Metadata Management and Database Management

  • Able to understand and document business data requirements in complete, accurate, extensible and flexible logical data models using data modeling tools – ErStudio, ErWin

  • Creates basic data models using the relevant tools and frameworks

  • Basic understanding of XML and schema development/reuse, database concepts, database designs, Open Source, big data technology and NoSQL will be an added advantage

  • Application of industry recognized methods, processes and standards

  • Has understanding of the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, designing, building, testing, configuring and maintaining of assigned application(s)

  • Able to participate in assigned team’s software delivery methodology (Agile, Scrum, Agile XP, Test-Driven Development, Waterfall, etc.) in support of data management and database development

  • Familiar with infrastructure technologies and components like servers, jvms, databases, and networking concepts

Salary Range: $85,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually bonus benefits
