Engineering Director – Network Security Architecture and Engineering

American Express is looking for an experienced technology leader that is a specialist in network security controls. This role is pivotal in architecting and building network security controls and safeguarding our company's applications and services hosted in our data centers and public cloud. This position will be responsible for mentoring and coaching a highly skilled team of security architects and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain network security controls and FWaaS capabilities

• Partner with Enterprise Infrastructure and cloud engineering teams to build frictionless, highly scalable and distributed firewall platforms

• Develop capabilities to federate security policy deployment and enable automated policy governance

• Build capabilities to enable observability and operational tooling.

• Be a change agent and mentor and train colleagues in security automation and procedures.

Requirements and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Experience in managing firewall infrastructure at a large enterprise

• Experience building and leading strong technical teams

• Proven experience as a Cloud Security Specialist or similar role.

• Knowledge of various security frameworks, standards, and guidelines.

• Experience securing services on public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

• Deep knowledge of cloud native technologies and Cloud security controls

• Deep Knowledge of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
