The Global Analytics, Data & Marketing team is responsible for overseeing analytics, data products and platforms specific to the Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) business. Our team is dedicated to helping American Express leverage enterprise-wide capabilities and assets to strengthen our integrated network and become an essential part of our customers’ digital lives. We directly support and strengthen our network of merchants by maintaining and enriching Amex closed loop merchant data, executing scaled and bespoke insights and analytics to drive merchant and partner marketing and operations, and identifying prospective merchants and suppliers to bring into our integrated network.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Reporting to the Director of Merchant Data & Analytic Platforms, the Manager of Data Products is responsible for creating and maintaining merchant-focused data solutions to power analytical and reporting capabilities and support enterprise strategy. As part of the Merchant Data Office, the role will focus on growing and enhancing the globalized standard data solution to ensure consistency, governance, and ease of use for downstream products across the Merchant business.

This product owner will play a pivotal role in working with global stakeholders to understand their strategic business objectives and needs relative to data and insights. S/he will collaborate closely with partners across Marketing, Client Management, Merchant Acquisition, Pricing, Analytics and Technologies to identify opportunities to advance the data product experience and develop new functionality to engage our customers and further their success. S/he will translate requests into action by truly innovating new functionality and utilities from white space, helping to oversee the development lifecycle from concept to creation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Hands on subject matter expertise in linking data dependencies from the SOR to suite of products, and enabling the rapid creation of new and valuable insights to drive the business

  • Synthesize learning and input from stakeholders and customers to drive new Insights products, features and functions, and ensure consistent and accurate development expectations

  • Leading end-to-end cross-functional delivery of capabilities, ensuring they are implemented true to their intent and in a manner that optimizes the future flexibility of the product, cost controls, and drives customer satisfaction

  • Ensuring high quality business engagement, processes and user stories with inter-product dependencies with technology multiple teams throughout the delivery lifecycle

  • Support leadership in developing recommendations for the long-term product strategy, incorporating both business and technical needs

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of project/product management experience with data experience and merchant business knowledge preferred

  • Working knowledge of the cornerstone environment is needed including Data Governance and Data Quality Framework

  • Leadership experience in managing large scale, multi-platform projects with product interdependencies

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and lead through changing and conflicting priorities - Self-starter who is highly comfortable with ambiguity

  • Knowledge of SQL / Hive / data querying and scripting techniques

  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.Advanced degree preferred

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
