The Opportunity

As a dedicated Quantitative Risk Analyst II, you will provide risk management support for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement and aggregation, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate quantitative and analytical practices and processes. Conducts and develops quantitative and analytic models, assessments and/or applications in support of risk management efforts that assess the market and identify risks and gaps in existing or proposed processes. Monitors the risk and control environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels and may consult on risk mitigation plans.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Applies analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness.

  • May translate results into relevant solutions to enhance decision making.

  • Applies maturing knowledge of industry standard methodologies to quantify risk and aggregate exposures.

  • Supports model validation and/or helps produce model validation reports.

  • May help translate recommendations into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and management.

  • Applies maturing knowledge to produce advanced analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.

  • Assists with communicating analytical results, findings and solutions to governance committees and business process owners and influences business analysis.

  • May create statistical reporting and financial analysis to forecast results for required stress test scenarios.

What you have:

  • Bachelors degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative field. 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree (6 years total experience).

  • 2 years related quantitative analysis experience in a subject area relevant to risk management to include statistical analysis, modeling, mathematics or other quantitative field OR advanced degree/designation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or another quantitative field.

What sets you apart:

  • Strong P&C personal lines' expertise.

  • 4+ years prior experience running or developing catastrophe modeling software, such as AIR, KCC or RMS, understanding nuances behind the model and how to customize for a specific company’s business and desired model uses in business decisions.

  • Background in researching, recommending, and supporting model development efforts, making model adjustments or overlays, and/or hybrid approaches.

  • Experience validating exposure data and claims data.

  • Prior programming experience managing large datasets, improving processes for efficiency gains, or building models (catastrophe models, predictive models, etc.).

  • Knowledge working with and developing strong relationships with a variety of business partners, such as product managers, state managers, underwriters, pricing actuaries, or reinsurance actuaries.

  • Experiences demonstrating strong learning agility, creative problem solving, strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, collaboration with team and with external business partners, strong project management skills as well as ability to work independently.

  • Certified Specialist in Catastrophe Risk (CSCR), Certified Catastrophe Risk Management Professional (CCRMP), AIR Certified Extreme Event Modeler (CEEM), or RMS Certified Catastrophe Risk Analyst (CCRA).

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210.00 - $141,830.00 .

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
