Small businesses play a critical role in the strength of the world economy. New businesses continue to enter the market to provide new services including payments with a swipe, tap, chip and pin, through a dongle and other technologies. These new companies are creating change in the industry by simplifying the merchant experience and have expanded the market to smaller companies that previously did not accept credit cards. American Express’ Global Acquisition Capabilities business is responsible for third party acquiring partner enablement, oversight and acquisition operations and capabilities.
This position is an exciting opportunity for a candidate seeking to utilize their expertise in project and vendor management, while deepening their leadership and relationship skills working within a fast paced, dynamic team. This manager will be responsible for collaborating with partners for them to develop and implement systems and processes to be able to launch under the OptBlue or payment facilitator programs in various markets in the US and internationally. This individual will work closely with external partners and several internal constituents including local Global Merchant Services groups, Payment Consultants, Global Certification Services, Network Solutions and Operations, various Product Owners, Technologies, Risk Management, Compliance and Global Services Group.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Project Management of the OptBlue and payment facilitator technical project, driving external partners to meet the agreed upon timelines
Ownership of ensuring the OptBlue and payment facilitator partners understand the technical and operational requirements of the program in which they’re launching
Employ creative problem solving for internal and external partner issues related to the program implementation, operations, and technology solutions
Develop, maintain, and deepen partner relationships to speed implementation of program and ensure high performance
Effectively collaborate with all business units to maximize merchant acquisition goal
Manage enablement of OptBlue and payment facilitator partners in the US and other international markets
Qualifications:
5 years of relevant experience
Energetic self-starter with proven business maturity, professionalism and thought leadership
Strong project, organization, and time management skills
Proven track record of driving results and managing multiple demands, competing priorities, and setbacks with demonstrated composure and resilience in a demanding and dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to successfully implement and manage large, complex initiatives across multiple locations or partners with multiple constituents
Ability to lead and influence internally and externally, across management levels to meet objectives and deliverables
Superior written and oral communication skills to engage and inspire internal and external partners to support critical initiatives; ability to communicate complex processes in easy-to-understand terms; ability to handle objections and deliver difficult messages
Thorough understanding of payments industry business dynamics, key linkages, policies, and procedures such as Merchant Acquisition, Network Solutions and Operations, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technologies, and Global Servicing
Ability to assess results and identify and translate areas of opportunity into tactical actions and business strategies
The ideal candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced, high energy and continuously evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Merchant Services experience, including a general understanding of end-to-end processing for Amex merchants, preferred
Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Qualifications
Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
