The Project Manager will lead various project teams in delivering critical elements of American Express mainframe applications and infrastructure. The position will report directly to the Mainframe Systems Program Management Director

What you’ll be doing – Advance our technology portfolio and your personal portfolio.

The choices of systems and solutions are virtually limitless, but so are the opportunities at American Express. Here’s just some of your responsibilities:

  • Helping define, plan, and deliver our technology investment portfolio focusing on a Business Benefit/Risk & Reward model

  • Inclusive of Security Program Management

  • Management of software vendor contracts, negotiation, and risk management

  • Financial tracking and reporting

  • Managing contracts to Risk Management policies and standards

  • Supervise the lifecycle of resource departmental SOW management from initiation to completion

  • Monitor, track and report on contractor resource allocation and funding

  • Provide advice on prioritization and scheduling

  • Reviewing opportunities for cost saves and consolidations or making new product recommendations

  • Adjust priorities and investments based on resource availability and changing business needs within your program

  • Planning, driving direction, and delivering large strategic projects and/or programs from initiation through implementation adhering to plan, budget and time

  • Monitoring multiple projects and programs against delivery, budget, forecast, schedule, and quality targets

  • Leading cross-functional teams and work with internal customers to understand requirements and move those into a delivery plan

  • Participate in reengineering activities and process improvements to optimize our delivery process

  • Proactively anticipate risks and issues and ensures that appropriate mitigation planning is in place to avoid delays or compromised delivery

  • Effectively handle communication across the project team and with management and other key partners regarding strategy, direction, and change

Are you up for the challenge? Here’s what we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or related field

  • Proven experience with our Internal TLM, TRM and vendor management teams and tools

  • Thorough knowledge or our vendor management payment tools

  • Proven understanding of Waterfall, Hybrid and Agile methodologies

  • Extensive business/industry work experience with reflected success in a leadership program management role

  • Ability to transfer requirements into results

  • Ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization

  • Apply knowledge and standardized methodology to Change, Risk, and Issue management

  • Prior experience leading Mainframe projects a plus

  • PMP, Agile, Lean, Scrum certification a plus

Qualifications

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually bonus benefits
