This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (7:00am - 7:00pm CST); this position also may have occasional Saturdays on rotation. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

The Lead Prior Authorization / Appeals Pharmacy Technician (Pharmacy Technician license required) is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of prescription orders, answering incoming calls, completing outbound calls to/from patients, physicians and pharmacists while ensuring a high level of customer service and maximizing productivity.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review and build cases as needed.

  • Research concerns with outreach as needed

  • Assist with creation, control and improve end-to-end business processes with emphasis on training new hires, conducting refresher training.- Support primary team of Director, Manager(s), and Supervisor(s)

  • Indirect support for Coordinators and Clinical Staff

  • Provide coaching to enhance staff performance

  • Mentors others.

  • Acts as a resource for others.

  • Coordinates others' activities.

  • Extensive work experience, possibly in multiple functions.

  • Work well in situations in which an established procedure is not available

  • Work independently.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or higher

  • 2+ years prior authorization / pharmacy experience

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) in your state of residence (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of being hired)

  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWellmobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience conducting training

  • Undergraduate degree (or higher) or equivalent experience.

  • Familiarity with computers and Windows PC applications (this includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system application)

  • 1+ years MS Access, Word, PowerPoint (create presentations), SharePoint (Upload files and Share documents) and Visio (create diagrams).

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to remain focused and productive each day though tasks may be repetitive

  • Communication skills compatible with a virtual team

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, handling other objects, long periods of close vision looking at a computer monitor
