Position Summary:
The successful applicant will support the Duke Energy Midwest Transmission Planning team based in Plainfield, Indiana. Entry-level Transmission Planning Engineers are expected to advance their technical skill and work with greater independence over time. An Engineer I will effectively apply fundamental engineering concepts and procedures to work that is complex and varied.
Responsibilities include:
Perform power flow model load and system configuration updates
Perform power flow studies assessing various Transmission system outage contingencies
Perform Transmission system studies and subsequent Transmission upgrade recommendations, providing the plan for new generation and new load interconnections to the Duke Energy Transmission system.
Accomplish business goals and objectives through effective prioritization and organization of work activities
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative work relationships with internal and external customers
Maintain accurate records and files
Basic/Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. M.S. Engineering degree will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
B.S. Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
Experience in the utility industry.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
Specific Requirements
Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
