“It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future,” Yogi Berra once said. Yet prediction is what Bank of America’s 80-person Consumer Behavior Modeling team does every day, tackling big problems like which card accounts will default or how many depositors will open investment accounts. Success in solving problems like these translates into customer delight, smart risk management, and responsible growth.

We are seeking junior level Data Scientists/Consumer Behavior Modelers who can select the right problems to work on; who can articulate to peers and decision makers what will change as a result of a model's predictions; who can draw a direct line between data and customer value; who can document their work so it is understood and reproduced well into the future even as it adapts to fast-breaking technological and economic change.

Our modeling team offers compelling professional opportunities. We work on some of the largest, most varied, and most important data in the world. The mathematical sophistication of our models extends to advanced and even research-level approaches. We implement our models and track their performance with multivariate statistical process controls. We continually train on the latest and most powerful tools. We work across all products and across all the stages of the customer lifecycle.

For example, our models:

  • Set credit limits for over 12% of the country’s credit card balances,

  • Optimize marketing and investment decisions to improve the customer experience for 67 million consumer and small business clients,

  • Correct for significant selection bias caused by having performance data on approved accounts only.

  • Candidates who have deep skills in modeling and excellent communication skills are invited to apply.

Role Summary and Key Responsibilities:
