Vice President, CALA Owner Franchise Services (OFS) (Position location: Florida or Mexico)

POSITION SUMMARY

The VP CALA Owner Franchise Services is a key member of the CALA Owner Franchise Services team reporting directly to the CFO, Franchise Operations & OFS, CALA. This position is accountable for leading and implementing the overall CALA Franchise strategy, including:

  1. High levels of Owner satisfaction and loyalty to Marriott’s brands.

  2. Revenue maximization of the CALA Franchise portfolio.

  3. Further grow CALA portfolio through new Franchised hotels from existing Owners.

Among others, such strategy includes:

  1. The creation of first-class Franchise short/medium/long range plan tools and performance management processes.

  2. The development of an encompassing market/industry research program to monitor anticipate demand and competitors.

  3. The design of a comprehensive communications and service delivery model.

The role is also responsible for monitoring the effective deployment of the strategy and also owns the successful direction, coordination and execution of CALA/Global brand standards, programs and service quality initiatives for the CALA Franchise portfolio.

This position requires an exemplar and proven ability to drive strategy, leverage owner franchise expertise, communicate and work effectively across the business, owners, headquarters, regional and continent teams.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Owns Owner and Franchise strategy and the development/design of supporting processes, systems and functions.

  • Accountable for the overall CALA Franchise Revenue/RevPAR, including quality metrics, delivery of system standards and execution of brand programs.

  • Leads the deployment of major brand initiatives.

  • Serves as primary point of contact on legal/contractual issues pertaining to CALA Franchise hotels.

  • Advocates to MI internal stakeholders on behalf of owners.

  • Resolves business issues in partnership with various corporate and market resources.

  • Holds franchises accountable to ensure that renovations and PIPs are completed on time and in accordance with agreed scope.

  • Responsible for franchisee involvement in remote solutions, marketing, procurement, business council and other related programs and activities.

  • Partners with the Brand Vice Presidents and OFS leadership in determining overall strategy, including product and service development priorities.

  • Provides direction and strategic leadership to the Directors of the CALA OFS organization.

Business/Functional Results

  • Maximizes earnings contribution by franchised units through royalties, unit growth, departmental margin and generation of incremental non-lodging revenues.

  • Enhances franchisee satisfaction and loyalty to MI brands.

  • Establishes processes and controls consistent/timely communication by CALA-MI.

  • Resolves Owners concerns/problems/questions in an agile and expeditious manner.

  • Drives Top Line improvement across Franchise portfolio.

  • Maximizes service quality metrics of Franchise portfolio.

Managing Execution / Building Relationships

  • Accountable for providing feedback from Franchisees and Owners to key MI functions and regional leadership.

  • Leads the communication of brand product and service standards to franchisees.

  • Partners closely with market and brand team develop communication plan, service delivery model, and other programs as necessary.

CANDIDATE PROFILE - KEY TALENTS AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED

REQUIRED:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Economics, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; advanced degree MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible work experience in hotel industry or relevant owner relations experience.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.

  • Prior experience working in LATAM strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to successfully managing competing stakeholder priorities

  • Prior experience with ownership groups and knowledge of owner relations and financial responsibilities to owners.

  • Understands/anticipates/represents the diverse interests of multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills; role requires considerable liaison with multiple stakeholders and maintenance of considerable internal and external relationships.

  • Proven outstanding customer and associate relations skills.

  • Broad Lodging Industry experience to include: development, operations, franchising.

  • Multi-unit responsibilities.

  • Strong financial acumen with proven analytical skills.

  • Exceptional skill in problem solving and leveraging resources to optimize capabilities.

  • Actively supports the development, training, mentoring of associates.

  • Position may be based at the CALA Continent Office in Plantation, FL or Mexico-based.
