The Clorox Company Senior Regulatory Specialist in Pleasanton, California

This role is a regulatory/technical role focused on supporting the compliance and safety of products for our recently acquired Nutranext dietary supplement business. This is an exciting position making a huge impact in a relatively new area (dietary supplements) for Clorox. The position is within the Global Stewardship (i.e., "Regulatory") department of Clorox's R&D organization and will have an emphasis on FDA compliance of the U.S. Direct to Consumer and Private Label businesses and could also include the Retail business, as needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide Regulatory leadership and recommendations to innovation and commercialization project teams.

  • Review dietary supplement ingredients/formulations, claims and labels for compliance to support innovation and projects for the NXT Direct to consumer (DTC) and Private Label (PL) dietary supplement businesses.

  • Enable GS review of NXT DTC and PL product safety, through external toxicology consultants and provide recommendations to project teams.

  • Lead and/or support cross functional teams, as required, to drive continuous improvement in Regulatory processes.

  • Proactively partner with GS team members within the dietary supplement businesses (NXT and Renew Life) to drive efficiencies.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills to lead projects, to stand up to "do the right thing", to drive change and influence cross-functional partners.

  • In-depth working knowledge of FDA dietary supplement (or food) product regulations, guidance and policies for label claims, ingredients, formulations and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and drive work with a high degree of independence.

  • Ability to balance Regulatory compliance against business needs and provide choices to teams.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel 10-20%, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution.

  • At least 5 years' experience in the FDA Dietary Supplement (or Foods) Regulatory space. If experience is only in Foods, must demonstrate ability to learn Dietary supplements regulations quickly.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support product launches utilizing food and/or dietary supplement Regulatory knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD from an accredited institution.

  • Experience in regulation of dietary supplements (equivalent) outside of the U.S. (e.g., Canada Natural Health Products, European Food Supplements, etc.).

  • Manufacturing QA/QC experience.
