The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Structural Heart division.

Structural Heart Business Mission: Why We Exist

Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.

As the Senior Project Engineer, you’ll have the chance to independently or lead a project team of cross functional engineers to support div projects across organization. Manage the most important and challenging projects. Define project resources, performance reviews and post implementation evaluations. Take ownership of the successful implementation of the projects.

What You’ll Work On

  • Independently or lead a project team to identify, scope, plan and conduct medium-size to complex assigned projects. Communicate project progress and escalate issues to management in a timely manner.

  • Understands the business needs and has a thorough knowledge of the customer when developing a project scope. Incorporates business foresight of emerging technological trends. Leads development of Project Charter and documents the initial requirements that satisfy the stakeholder’s needs and expectations. Establishes engineering project objectives and technical criteria for evaluating project results and activities of the project team.

  • Monitors and controls project work to meet the performance objectives defined in the project plan. Focuses on cost and milestone achievement to optimize resource utilization.

  • Identifies areas of risk and mitigates risks through early risk assessments and implementation of fallback / mitigation strategies.

  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources to complete the project.

  • This may include preparing engineering designs and work specifications, developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts, and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. Uses established PM tools and techniques to stay within authorized budget limits and achieve the overall project and organizational objectives.

  • Understand Project Management tools and methodologies. Understand engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques.

  • Direct the work of project team members, set goals and objectives, monitor progress on tasks. May have direct reports.

  • Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of the project.

  • Set priorities, allocate tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree, preferably in mechanical, industrial, chemical, electrical, bio-medical or related discipline

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering or operational role

  • Problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in leading gross margin, distress inventory reduction, material run-out, compliance projects, and 2nd supplier qualification for class 3 medical devices.

The base pay for this position is $75,300.00 – $150,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
