Air Products (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, is seeking an experienced Analyzer Technician for its HYCO facilities in Port Arthur, TX and Westlake, LA. The facilities produce Hydrogen, power, steam and CO2 for the local refineries as well as other customers along the Gulf Coast Connection Pipeline (GCCP), the world’s largest hydrogen pipeline supply network.

The Analyzer Technician will report into the Area Maintenance Superintendent and will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance as well as project work on analyzer and instrumentation systems. The candidate will be accountable for the safe operation, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of all activities surrounding plant equipment.

Role responsibilities and duties:

  • Perform and/or supervise the inspection, repair, calibration and prevention activities associated with a variety of Continuous Gas Analyzers, Moisture Analyzers, and Gas Chromatograph systems. This includes complex gas sampling systems.

  • Providing the necessary technical leadership to continuously improve the area’s analytical equipment integrity, reliability, and on-stream factor.

  • Provide Operational/Technical training to individual plant Operations and Maintenance teams to improve overall technical knowledge of their systems.

  • Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.

  • Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations as well as environmental compliance.

  • Engage actively in a team environment, bring a positive attitude, maintain personal accountability and provide mentoring and coaching for team member development.

  • Recommend and specify revisions to improve equipment performance and/or system reliability/capacity.

  • Assist in the development, implementation and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on stream capability.

  • Keep abreast of and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, instrumentation, controls, technology, etc., for application and use within the plant.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.

  • Willing to support nights and weekends via phone or potential on-site.

  • QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five (5) years minimum maintenance experience in a petrochemical, manufacturing or military environment.

  • Five years’ experience inspecting, repairing and calibrating Instrumentation/Calibration & Analyzer systems.

  • Two-year Associate degree in Electrical/Instrumentation discipline or relevant military experience, preferred.

  • Working knowledge of SAP, basic word processing, email and spreadsheet programs a plus.

  • Supervisory skills/experience, basic computer knowledge, knowledge of SAP, and experience with CEM systems.
