The purpose of the Product Sustainability Specialist role is to support US Foods’ Products sustainability program performance and reporting by managing and maintaining necessary procedures and certification schemes associated with the Company’s Hungry For Better programs and commodity standards.
This position has been segmented as 100% Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.
Responsibilities:
Manage and execute auditing and other responsibilities required to maintain US Foods’ current, and any future, product third-party certifications or product claims, such as interpreting certification standards, submitting vendor or service provider invoices for payment and ensuring up to date licensing/trademark agreements. This includes managing group controls, internal audits and other responsibilities necessary to maintain the Company’s Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chain of Custody certificate.
Collaborate closely with US Foods’ Product Development and Innovation, FSQA and other teams to communicate standards and requirements associated with third-party certification, including providing timely updates if and as those requirements change, and identify and communicate opportunities for further engagement with or benefit from third-party certifying bodies.
Maintain, communicate to US Foods stakeholders and execute standardized procedures and cadences for collecting, reviewing and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of Products sustainability-related data, such as related to the Company’s Hungry For Better program, responsibly sourced palm oil and responsibly sourced seafood, and provide regular performance updates to Sustainability leadership.
Engage with third-party partners and with suppliers, as directed, to collect information and data necessary to support US Foods’ Products sustainability programs and standards.
Utilize internal and externally-hosted data platforms and tracking systems to maintain Products sustainability-related data and information.

Relationships:
Internal: Products sustainability data-related responsibilities will require cross-functional collaboration across US Foods’ Sustainability/ESG, Product Development and Innovation, FSQA, Legal/Regulatory, Category Management and other departments.
External: External engagement will be required, including but not limited to engaging with third-party product certifiers, third-party partners and select US Foods suppliers related to sourcing standards, certifications and/or claims and other product attributes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant role, preferably including data management.
Detail-oriented, have excellent data management skills and be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of time.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the environmental sciences, business administration or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office applications and/or other data visualization tools.
Excellent organizational skills and with the ability to manage and maintain numerous processes and deliverables simultaneously.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with product-related sustainability topics (e.g., third-party sustainability certifications).
Universal Pay Verbiage:
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $50,000 and $90,000.
This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus.

$55,000 - $90,000
