This is your chance to be part of an in-house Brands team of industry experts in the domains of hospitality, brand management, innovation, food and beverage, wellness, owner relations, and more, for all of Hilton's unique brands! As a Director, Architecture & Design - Luxury Brands, you will support the team that leads our brands with the steadfast goal of strengthening and growing the Hilton portfolio. On the Global Design Services team reporting to Vice President, Architecture & Design - Luxury Brands, you will provide leadership, inspiration, and guidance to our teams, owners and partners as subject matter expert in strategic planning, design, innovation and project management to help grow all Luxury Brand properties in the United States & Canada (NAM) region.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What will I be doing:

Hilton’s Global Design team is seeking someone who blends creative style with smart business sense and is excited about joining a team that thrives at the intersection of design and travel. Hilton is on a mission to reinvent “The Stay”, looking for architects and designers who can help redefine the Luxury hotel, resort, and branded residence experience that meets our evolving guest and owner needs.

As a Director of Architecture & Design, you manage strategic brand initiatives and create new revenue generating opportunities in our growing NAM Luxury hotel portfolio. This strategic design role will ensure the quality, operational excellence, and voice are right for each of our distinctive Luxury brands. You are design astute and brand knowledgeable, and able to integrate the two while meeting evolving development and business demands. As someone who develops design strategies, concepts and leads the design process, you will focus on efficiency without compromising the big idea.

What your day-to-day will be like:

  • Lead Luxury Brand and GDS initiatives with polish and a passion for increased performance, innovation, NUG (Net Unit Growth), PIP development, and long-range CapEx planning.
  • Explore and define opportunities, communicate the vision, and guide active projects to ensure we are ahead of the curve, tracking the progress of multiple design and construction projects simultaneously.
  • Engage partners - internal Brand, Development, Food & Beverage, Wellness, IT, and MEP colleagues and our Ownership teams to envision and facilitate elevated, necessary renovations and redevelopment projects.
  • Review and assess project documents, including design presentations, Architectural, FF&E, and General Construction drawings, and specification submittals for agreement on GDS and Brand standards.
  • Deliver as the face and voice of our Global Design team thoughtfully composed oral, written, and visual recommendations and approval documents for internal and external publication and negotiations.

How you will collaborate with others:

  • Demonstrate passion, vision, and commitment to quality through an understanding of people, talent, capabilities, and resources. Inspire creative and meaningful thinking while being mindful of business and operations objectives and unique circumstances as the face of GDS and our Luxury Brands.
  • Collaborate with both our teams and external partners such as owners, operators (both Hilton and Franchise), developers, design and technical consultants to promote our benefited approach relative to programming, planning, and design to deliver operational efficiency and increase revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Provide mentorship to the consultants of hotel owners and GM’s through the process of online project registration, programming, team assembly, Brand immersions, collaborative workshops (both in person and virtual), design submittals and reviews, all through the lens of relationship-building with our partners.
  • Direct the work of others and projects, but will have no direct reports at this time.

What you will take ownership of:

  • Drive portfolio-wide CapEx planning strategies and partner with Brand, Operations and GMs to establish guidelines for our NAM Luxury Brands, with property-specific objectives and work plans through execution.
  • Lead collaborative design initiatives between Brand and GDS to elevate our Luxury portfolio through innovation in our Luxury and Lifestyle-influenced market segment.
  • Help write RFPs and PIPs while driving diversification of consultant resources, providing proposal assessments to best identify project specific consultant talent.
  • Deliver DRC Presentations to our executive committee and project updates to our Brand leaders.
  • Support the evolution, maintenance and new development of strategic Luxury Brand initiatives and resource documents for relevance, being Brand Design Narratives, Design Guides, NAM regional D&C Standards, Global Key Brand Attributes, communication tools, design award submissions.

WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT

You have these minimum qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of Luxury & Lifestyle Brand strategy-focused commensurate experience in hospitality design, project management and construction roles
  • Four (4) years of experience with corporate communications, direct ownership communications, and team management
  • Mastery of SketchUp, AutoCAD, InDesign, Bluebeam, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time

It would be useful if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Advanced degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture & Design, or Real Estate Development
  • Fifteen (15) years of hospitality experience and innovation in a mixture of design and construction roles in the Luxury & Lifestyle arena
