Mechanical Engineer

A Mechanical Engineer provides essential support for the design, build, and updates of new and existing product, with a strong knowledge of CAD, BOM structure, and ERP systems. They create and maintain mechanical designs by preparing sketches, layouts, detail drawings and assembly drawings. Drawings include all views, dimensions and tolerances necessary for manufacture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed 2D and 3D models of product components.

  • Develop layout drawings, technical drawings, assembly instructions, and exploded views using CAD tools checking dimension and relationship of parts, and materials to be used

  • Create, detail and revises production component and assembly drawings for pumps designs

  • Develop and revise structure guide and bill of materials using ERP system

  • Understand and maintain the BOM structure for each product

  • Ensure that BOMs are accurate, complete, and up-to-date

  • Size and select piping and fittings for pump applications

  • Size and select hardware

  • Support the technical requirements for the supply chain, sales, Technical Support, and manufacturing teams for new and existing products.

  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to optimize BOMs for cost efficiency and production

  • Work closely with the IT team to integrate product data into the company’s ERP system.

  • Ensure that BOMs, part numbers, and other relevant information are synchronized between CAD systems and ERP databases.

  • Troubleshoot any discrepancies or data inconsistencies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve product-related challenges promptly.

  • Keep up-to-date on new product features, CAD software updates, and ERP system enhancements.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or technical field plus 2 years’ experience working with CAD design in support of the manufacturing process required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering desired

  • Possess knowledge of mechanical drawing practices including dimensions, clearances, tolerances (geometric) and surface finishes

  • Proficient in the use of 3D SolidWorks software with minimum 2 years’ experience required, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)

  • Experienced in document (drawing) management (EPDM).

  • Experienced working with NSF, UL, and CE required.

  • While not mandatory, certifications related to CAD software, SolidWorks, or ERP systems, JD Edwards) can be advantageous.

  • Exposure to manufacturing processes and quality improvement methods (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, FMEA).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD software (2D and 3D modeling).

  • Understanding of BOM structures and management.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data integration.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Attention to detail and critical thinking.

  • Ability to adapt to advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
