Job Description

The BAE Systems site at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant is seeking an Operational Excellence Quality Engineer. In this role as an Operational Excellence Quality Engineer, you will help advance the mission of driving a continuous improvement culture at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. You'll use your expertise and background to foster and nurture a positive environment supporting continuous improvement efforts with a growth mindset. Using lean tools such as value stream mapping, 5 Why, A-3, and Six Sigma, you'll work with cross functional teams to drive improvement.

In this role as an Operational Excellence (OE) Quality Engineer, you will:

• Develop OE project plans and roadmaps that align with business goals.

• Lead and facilitate improvement projects.

• Analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement within processes.

• Monitor performance metrics to identify areas of concern and trends.

• Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive process improvement events.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline and four years related experience

• Experience within a manufacturing / production environment

• Strong data analytics skills

• Experience with Lean tools such as Value stream mapping, 5 Why, and A-3

• Working experience using visual boards, metrics, root cause analysis, etc.

• Knowledgeable in the "Toyota Production System" philosophy

• Ability and willingness to challenge convention and the status quo to foster continuous improvement efforts

• Mechanical and Chemical aptitude

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to successfully deliver and share information and training;

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team

• Computer skills to include MS Office and industry-related software

• May consider candidates with fewer years experience for a more junior role or additional experience for a more senior role

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering

• DOD Manufacturing experience

• Six Sigma certification a plus

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $86460 - $146982

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
