BAE Systems Utilities Process Engineer in Radford, Virginia

Job Description

As a member of the Utilities Operations Team, this person will be responsible for evaluating current Water and Wastewater processes and configuring systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the Utilities processes. This person will assist the Energy Manager with our Energy Program. Excellent communication and organizational skills will be required to provide real-time support, guidance and direction to Utilities personnel. This individual will work closely with the Utilities Staff on key projects and initiatives. This person will also be responsible for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) data collection and design to support Facilities functions.-?xml:namespace prefix = "o" /->

This position will be focused on Water and Wastewater Treatment Processes in support of State of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Air and Water Regulations, State of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Wastewater Permit and State of Virginia Department of Health Potable Water Permit for the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.

Interested candidates should exhibit sound judgment, initiative and self-motivation, and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision. Solid communication, teamwork and integration skills will be required to work effectively across functions at multiple levels. The ability to manage time effectively while dealing with a variety of issues in a dynamic environment will be essential to the success of this individual.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • College degree required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications

  • Ability to render P&I diagrams, process flow diagrams, building and equipment layouts.

  • Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM).

  • Understanding of Energy Programs.

  • Author, maintain and update necessary Procedures & assist with training when applicable.

  • Experience supporting water and wastewater processes and their distribution systems not required but desired.

  • Experience with interpreting and adhering to State and Federal Regulations.

  • Strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills needed.

  • Ability to work well in team environment as well as independently.

  • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting with process control systems.

  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Sciences or 10 years plus experience in related field.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $83900 - $142600

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
