Merck Associate Specialist SOC Analyst - Hybrid in Rahway, New Jersey

Job Description

Summary:

Security Operations Center analyst will be a member of our Cyber Fusion Center Team and support our Incident Response function. This position will provide support to security operations through incident triage, event analysis, documentation updates, incident response and other SOC duties assigned. This position supports a 24x7x365 support staff and candidates should be open to working a rotating schedule with non-core hours. This position will be a hybrid working environment with a mix of remote and onsite work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize SIEMs / MDR for enterprise monitoring and detection

  • Perform critical thinking and analysis to investigate cyber security alerts

  • Collaborate with team members to analyze an alert or threat

  • Analyze suspicious emails, phone calls, and other potential security incidents to determine false positives or needs for escalation

  • With direction, perform regular threat hunting utilizing security tools and intelligence information to identify and remediate potential security threats

  • Assist in documenting Standard Operating Procedures SOC playbooks, configuration guides, and secure standards

  • Conduct basic threat hunting within Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and within specific tools for malicious indicators and threat actor TTPs.

  • Create detection logic within a (SIEM) solution and within specific tools to identify potential malicious activity.

  • Have an understanding of Security Operation Center (SOC) activity and be able to respond to cyber security incidents.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • HS Diploma with equivalent experience and/or education (such as Bootcamps) is accepted.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience cybersecurity or IT experience (Education and Bootcamps included)

  • Understanding of fundamental security and network concepts

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Be able to have a hybrid work schedule between remote and on site work

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field and experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other regulated environment.

  • Security Certifications (CND, Sec+, GCIH)

  • Experience with Microsoft and Unix-based operating systems

  • Background in system engineering in Windows and/or Linux.

  • Background in Windows Operations

  • Familiar with Pen Testing Red Teaming Techniques

  • Experience with Python, networking, IDS/IPS.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected US salary range:

$63,900.00 - $100,500.00
