Overview:
The Director, Executive and Corporate Communications, is responsible for the development and execution of communication strategies and tactics for the Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities include development and execution of a thought leadership platform, including external and employee engagement. Support for the Executive should be designed in a way that is strategic, proactive, inspirational and supports business goals. As such, this Director must be an exceptional collaborator as they will partner closely with the Executive’s chief of staff, as well as key stakeholders within the Corporate Affairs leadership team, Corporate Communications team and other key stakeholders across the company.
The Director will be a trusted advisor and lead preparations and day-of support for speaking engagements, public appearances, speeches and employee engagements. This position requires a dynamic and creative leader with exceptional writing skills, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of leadership communications in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
This individual will report to the Executive Director of Strategy & Operations, Corporate Affairs, with a dotted line to the Global Employee and Executive Communications team.
Location/commute
This role is based at our headquarters site in Rahway (NJ, USA).
We offer a hybrid setup (combination of an in-office (3 days) & remote/offsite (2 days)).
This position cannot be 100% remote and must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed (approx. 10% to 25% of their time).
Scope of work and core responsibilities:
Develop and implement executive communication strategies that strengthen our company's reputation and brand with employees and key stakeholders, and that align with the overall business strategy
Ensure consistent and timely information to employees through clear and inspirational content across various channels, including town halls
Provide counsel and support for the Executive’s internal and external engagements, ensuring use of consistent messaging that aligns with the global communications strategy
Provide strategic counsel in times of crisis or high visibility, ensuring timely and effective communication that aligns with organizational values
Support the implementation of change management strategies
Plan and manage coordination of team events, including town halls, culture events, team offsites and other activities that promote a positive work culture, in partnership with the Executive’s chief of staff
Plan, manage coordination of and accompany Executive to external and internal speaking engagements; includes development of briefing materials, presentations, talking points, Q&A, etc.
Manage approvals of communications requests for the Executive
Monitor and report on the employee experience and engagement
Set measurable goals for communications plans and ensure progress is tracked and reported, and value is evidenced
Ensure clear and consistent communication updates across all projects
Required qualifications:
Minimum 10 years’ experience with a focus in employee engagement, corporate and executive communications (including speech writing)
BA degree
Proven experience confidently interacting with and counseling corporate executives and key internal partners with best in-class communication practices, ensuring messaging is consistent across the organization
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including successfully managing major projects and enterprise-wide initiatives
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed organization
Strong writing, editing and communications skills across multiple media, including speeches, email, video scripts, editorial and social content
Creative thinker with a passion for building culture
Organized with high attention to detail
Strong project management skills with proven success managing multiple, high-profile and significant projects
Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively across teams, influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively
Exceptional business acumen with agility in a fast-paced environment
Proactive with ability to “see around corners” and anticipate needs of our executives
Positive attitude and ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
Ability to bring outside-in thinking and share best practices with the team
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in public relations, external engagement and corporate reputation
Experience in healthcare industry, including large Fortune 500 companies
Experience at a PR agency or equivalent welcome

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$169,700.00 - $267,200.00
