Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader to take on the critical role of Director of Six Sigma Problem Solving. This individual will be a highly experienced black belt or master black belt, responsible for driving structured problem-solving methodologies into a technical organization. This individual will directly lead or facilitate significant technical investigations and developing a culture of robustness within the medical device and combination product engineering team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Significant Investigations:

  • Directly lead significant projects aimed at improving product stewardship, quality, and operational performance within the medical device and combination product engineering team.

  • Experience in utilizing and role modeling DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and /or Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM) tools and techniques for engineering and technical projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and achieve targeted outcomes within established timelines.

Deploying Best Practices:

  • Ensure technical product stewardship plans and investigations utilize scientific and structured problem solving across the technical operations department, using DMAIC and/or DFSS methodologies, and Design for Manufacturing and tools/best practices.

  • Build these approaches into standard business work to ensure broad use in the organization.

  • Partner with Value Chain, Technical Product Leaders, and Device Working groups to ensure supply chain design activities achieve lean manufacturing goals.

Statistical Process Control and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure the appropriate use of experimental design and statistical process control methodologies to monitor and improve the stability and capability of manufacturing processes, partnering with data teams in the department and company.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful resolution of technical and quality issues impacting medical device and combination products (MDCP) with robust control strategies following changes or deviations.

Capability Building and Change Management:

  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on Design for Six Sigma and fundamental problem-solving skills (DMAIC) to build capabilities and drive the structured use of tools and best practices within the Device Development and Technology organization.

  • Provide mentorship and coaching to employees at all levels to enhance their problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

  • Support change management initiatives by effectively communicating and implementing process improvements and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field with 10 years' experience.

  • Certification in Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies (e.g., Black Belt or Master Black Belt).

  • Proven experience in technical support, product stewardship, statistical process control, sequential DoEs, robustness methodologies within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing complex projects while driving a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving within an organization.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to pharmaceuticals, medical devices and combination products.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and inspire change at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience with Taguichi Robustness Methods preferred.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Expected US salary range:

$149,400.00 - $235,100.00
