Job Description

Enterprise IT (EIT) is an essential component of the current IT division that provides support to the Pharmaceutical Research, Supply Chain, Marketing organizations as well as Enabling Functions. The EIT SAP Platform Team is responsible for our Company’s SAP Global Template asset, delivering enterprise-level capabilities through harmonized business processes and data. The team is responsible for the operation of all our Company SAP and integrated solutions, governance of the associated enterprise assets, and cost-effective delivery of capabilities to support achievement of immediate and future state business objectives.

Within the EIT SAP Platform Team, the EIT SAP Software Basis Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of the SAP landscape. You will ensure the availability, performance, and security of SAP systems, databases, and related technologies. This role requires expertise in SAP Basis administration, Database administration, Linux OS, and a deep understanding of SAP architecture including S/4.

Responsibilities:

SAP Landscape Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems like S4, BTP, Fiori, ERP, SLT, BW, etc. in a multi-tier landscape.

  • Manage SAP instances, systems, and clients.

  • Perform system refreshes, client copies, and system upgrades.

Infrastructure Optimization:

  • Architect and implement solutions for optimizing SAP infrastructure, including server sizing, storage, and network configurations.

  • Manage automation of system builds, optimization etc.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance the SAP landscape.

  • Operating system knowledge of Linux

  • Experience in AWS Cloud architecture.

Database Administration:

  • Administer and optimize SAP databases (SAP HANA and Oracle)

  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.

  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Manage and tune HANA DB clusters.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning:

  • Monitor and optimize the performance of SAP systems and related components.

  • Conduct performance tuning and recommend system improvements.

  • Apply Kernel upgrade/DB Patch/Support Packs upgrades across landscape systems using a structured methodology.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery:

  • Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for SAP systems in AWS cloud.

  • Develop and test backup and recovery procedures.

Interface and Integration:

  • Configure and maintain SAP interfaces with other systems.

  • Troubleshoot integration issues between SAP and third-party applications.

  • Define and enforce integration standards and patterns.

Troubleshooting and Documentation:

  • Troubleshoot and trace performance issues Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Create and maintain documentation for SAP Basis processes and procedures.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to junior team members.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other IT teams, such as infrastructure, security, and application development teams.

  • Work closely with SAP functional teams to understand business requirements.

  • Mentor and train junior members.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop and enhance SAP reporting capabilities.

Required Education Level:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Expert in SAP technologies, including SAP S/4, SAP BTP, Fiori, HANA, SLT, and SAP Solution Manager.

  • Strong database administration skills (SAP HANA, Oracle).

  • Knowledge of new dimension products like SAP BTP.

  • Self-starter and ability to work items to solutions.

  • Experience with SAP system upgrades.

  • Experience with SAP automation using cloud native tools.

  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • SAP & AWS certifications are a plus.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. $135,500.00 - $213,400.00
