Cardinal Health Director, Strategic Planning - Global Medical Products & Distribution in Raleigh, North Carolina

Position Summary

At Cardinal Health, we’re developing the innovative products and services that are mission critical to healthcare. To enable this mission, the Director, Strategic Planning - Global Medical Products & Distribution (GMPD) will be responsible for leading disciplined strategic planning process across the segment, bringing to bear both thought and project/program leadership to create momentum and enable action.

This role will report into the Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Development - GMPD. The GMPD Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for the development of segment strategy, strategic management disciplines, business analytics, as well as realization of strategic plans and management agendas including organic and inorganic growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Directs and overseas the segment’s strategic and long-range planning function. Lead annual strategic planning, quarterly board of directors management, annual priorities and objectives build, quarterly objective tracking, and key projects from start to finish with strategy, business, finance, IT and other functions. Excel in a matrixed management environment; communicate regularly (verbal and written) with cross-functional partners and teams.

  • Strategy Material Build and Preparation: Prepare best in class presentation materials in support long-range strategic planning with attention to detail and speed. Prepare presentation materials in support of recommendations to proceed with strategic opportunities.

  • Strategic Portfolio of Initiatives (POI) Tracking: Actively manage the organic POI, M&A and investment fund pipelines and materials.

  • Program Management: Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams, high attention to details, create processes and systems to deliver complex, multi-modal solutions ensuring consistency of quality delivery, identify critical-path project goals, activities, and constraints

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to bring structure to problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations

  • Financial Acumen: Budgeting and capital allocation in the context of strategic planning to maximize shareholder value, understanding of financial modeling working lockstep with financial planning partners

  • Communications skills: Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively; proactively build clear, concise, strategic presentations/materials. Working with communications lead segment-wide effort “Strategy Roadshow” to communicate our strategic plan internally across teams. Working closely with investor relations, align on key messages for quarterly earnings communications and

  • Internal/External networking: Expand Cardinal Health’s network of trusted advisors and information sources with respect to strategy and business development; excel in a matrixed management environment; communicate regularly with executive teams

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry

  • Strategic thinker and communicator

  • Financial acumen and business modelling capabilities

  • Cross-functional and cultural champion

  • Excellent strategic communication skills -- verbal and written

Anticipated salary range: $146,900 - $226,000
