The Finance Manager, JRD Portfolio and Decision Analysis is responsible for driving robust and data-driven financial insights on the JRD portfolio to enable senior JRD and Janssen leadership to make investment decisions that support the near and long term health of the Pharmaceutical business.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drive LRFP for JRD, working closely with Therapeutic Area and Discovery DPDS teams to deliver clear articulation of JRD investment requirements and impact on portfolio value and growth

  • Lead JRD Finance R&D financial valuation processes, including driving consistent application of valuation techniques and guidelines across Therapeutic Areas and driving adoption of new and advanced valuation methodologies, to enhance opportunity analysis and decision-making

  • Provide decision support to JRD Investment Committee

  • Partner closely with rest of JRD Portfolio Finance team to analyze current and future JRD investment needs and growth outlook, in support of defining and executing optimal investment allocation strategy to meet growth objectives

  • Drive continued deployment of consistent portfolio prioritization framework and supporting tools across JRD, including support of portfolio reviews

  • Support JRD annual target setting process, working closely with the JRD FP&A team and Sr Finance Director, Therapeutic Areas; during subsequent Business Plan and current year forecast updates, generate portfolio insights and implications for senior leadership

  • Provide robust, consistent and timely financial reporting on JRD portfolio, to provide transparency to senior leadership

  • Liaise with R&D Portfolio Management, Enterprise R&D Finance and Investor Relations, among others, to deliver internal and external reporting requirements related to JRD portfolio

  • Lead and participate in ad hoc strategic projects and special requests


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required preferably a major in Accounting or Finance.

  • A MBA and/or CPA, CMA, are preferred.

  • A minimum of five years of finance or related business experience is required.

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical and/or diagnostic industry is preferred.

  • The ability to effectively take on leadership roles in various functions is required.

  • Candidate must possess excellent analytical (MS Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint), as well as conceptual, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Candidate must have a strong track record in business partnering and project management, must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle several tasks simultaneously.

  • Post return to workplace, this role can be based in Raritan NJ, Titusville NJ or Spring House PA and may require up to 10% domestic travel.
