We are searching for the best talent for Head of Value Chain Excellence to be in Zug, Switzerland or Titusville NJ, Raritan NJ, Spring House PA, Malvern PA, US .

Purpose: Head of Value Chain Excellence (VCEx) is responsible for the enablement of the Value Chain Management (VCM) processes & deliverables; leads specific e2e digital programs and owns specific e2e business processes.

You will be responsible for :

The VCEx role is a strategic role with responsibility to create and maintain the VCM strategy, the VCM process decomposition and the continuous improvement of key e2e supply chain processes. The role will also consolidate the investment picture for VCM and facilitate the LRFP and BP process.

The role will lead digital programs for VCM and E2E supply chain. As this moment this includes digital value chain, product information management and tiered performance management. These programs have the purpose to effectively enable the business processes of the future.

The third pillar of this roles is the ownership of specific e2e business processes for Innovative Medicine Supply Chain (IMSC). This role has responsibility over Supply Chain Reliability, E2E performance management and Supply Chain resiliency. Supply chain resiliency is a strategic priority for IMSC and the leader will continue to shape this space in close collaboration with the IMSC functions, the enterprise and with other functions like R&D, Quality and JJT.

The last pillar is the oversight over a small group of e2e business excellence people who work primarily on e2e programs and support the Value Chain Leaders (VCL`s) with strategic problem statements. This team is also active in e2e process engineering, leading improvements in e2e processes within SC as well as between SC, R&D and commercial.

This position will have 8 direct reports and a group of approximately 15 people.

The Senior Director, Value Chain Excellence is part of the Value Chain Management organization and reports to the VP of Value Chain Management.

The leadership team of VCM further consists of the leaders for the VCM platforms, Network strategy, Launch, Project and Portfolio Mgt, SC BD, Data Science and Transcend.

This position will lead:

  • The enablement of the VCM processes and be very close business partner to the members of the VCM LT.

  • The VCM strategy creation in close collaboration with the VCM LT and in alignment to with IMSC strategy.

  • The VCM process model and decomposition, ensures the documentation of processes, makes these available thru training, drives consistency and continuous improvement in line with the business needs and scope

  • Investment management for VCM in close collaboration with the platform leaders and with PPMO team. This includes the facilitation of the LRFP and BP, as well as providing status updates in close collaboration with platform leaders and finance.

  • Critical digital programs to enable the VCM and broader IMSC e2e processes. Key programs in flight are Digital Value Chain, Product Information Management and One Performance Management.

  • Supply chain reliability thru the ownership over the STEM process, the weekly escalations to the leadership, the identification of systemic issues and visibility to the programs to address these issues.

  • Supply chain e2e performance management as well as tiered performance management, this includes both the monthly scorecard reviews with IMSCLT as well as the ownership over the process development of a fully connected performance management structure for IMSC (tiered performance management).

  • Supply resiliency for IMSC in close collaboration with the VCRM organization in the enterprise. The ownership includes the foundational work on risk assessments, the creation of transparency on the status of resiliency in the supply chain (product and portfolio), as well as being the single point of contact for any SC resiliency challenges in the IMSC. It also includes the creation/consolidation of the content of the yearly BoD review on risk.

  • E2E process engineering, lead complex programs with impact to the e2e supply chain, examples are labelling improvements, launch readiness and stage gate processes in collaboration with R&D, but also complex problem solving using standard methodologies like Kepner Tregoe

  • Talent development in the team, ensures positions are filled with best-in-class talent who are able to drive progression in how we work and ensure talent can flow to next impactful positions.

  • Excellent connections with the other excellence groups in IMSC and with the digital teams.

  • Collaboration in specific areas with R&D and Commercial to ensure VCM and E2E SC processes are well aligned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

  • A minimum 10-12 years relevant business experience is required.

  • A minimum of 8 years in Supply Chain (preferably operational roles) is required.

  • Black Belt Certification is preferred.

  • Proven overall PE knowledge in Six Sigma, Lean or DEX is required.

  • High tolerance for ambiguity in a complex environment. Makes the complex clear and easily understood by others.

  • Ability to build effective partnering relationships.

  • Familiarity with all aspects of the area supported, knows how value is created in the business, understanding the key levers for driving breakthrough improvement.

  • Understanding of overall business environment, including financial acumen.

  • Leverage a deep understanding of internal and external customer needs and insights to inform decision making and strengthen overall value to the customer.

  • Track record of influencing the external environment based on knowledge of social, political, regulatory and economic issues affecting businesses domestically and globally.

  • Consensus management skills.

  • Full understanding of performance management metrics and ability to link them to strategic objectives.

  • Insight and business acumen, outside orientation and networking capability.

  • Leverage business metrics, analytics and external data to generate insights and drive evidence-based decision making to help shape Janssen Supply Chain.

  • Challenge business thinking and confront areas where improvement and breakthrough is possible.

  • Driving business improvements and ensuring that projects and programs are implemented well.

The anticipated base pay range for this position in US is 193,000 to 333,000USD.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
