Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Read manual differentials on peripheral blood smears with a microscope

  • Utilize an automated digital cell morphology platforms to confirm automated analyzer results

  • Identify red blood cell, white blood cell and platelet populations

  • Identify and reporting any indication of Blood borne Pathogens in a timely manner

  • Detect and identify abnormal cell populations to aid in the diagnosis of health conditions and disease states

  • Interpret blood cell count result data for accuracy and feasibility

  • Troubleshoot analyzers and equipment to determine a resolution

  • Run and perform maintenance on the automated slide maker/strainer

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a Life Science

  • Experience working in a clinical hematology laboratory is preferred

  • ASCP Certification is a plus

  • Prior experience with Sysmex platforms and/or CellaVision┬« a plus

  • Knowledge of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures

  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) are a plus

  • Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance processes

  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal

  • Ability to prioritize, multi task and work independently

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
