Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for Senior Engineer, Functional Engineering to be in New Brunswick, NJ.

This position is for the Vision Global Spend Visibility platform within the Technology Services Procurement product group in Johnson & Johnson Technology.

This role reports into the Senior IT Manager for the procurement process area and joins the existing delivery/build team for the Vision Global Spend Visibility Data and Reporting platform. This platform pulls procurement transactional data from approximately 35 SAP, JD Edwards, and other ERP systems, as well as 5 Ariba instances.

*As a lead you will be responsible for working closely with the BT TPO (Technical Product Owner - IT Business Technology Liaison) and Business owners of the system, bringing their vision to fruition. Working with BT and the Development team SMEs (subject matter experts), review and ensure requirements are clear and achievable, while setting expectations around delivery. You will also understand the Vision landscape of varied sources, the architecture of the databases, the processes and technology used from ingestion through reporting. The development team is well established with most members being SMEs for Vision. As a lead you will guide the team as well as learn from them, while empowering them to continue taking ownership for their work and fostering independence.

We are a customer and product centric team, where everything we do starts and ends with the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands on building of solutions and coordinating technical delivery to ensure results meet the needs of business and achieves outcomes established.

  • In conjunction with the development team and scrum master, provide technical design to agile stories and build solutions to critical and sophisticated requirements.

  • As an “Order Owner” – responsible for creating and maintaining proficient resources through execution of statements of work (SOWs) with our approved resource suppliers in the J&J resource engagement tool.

  • Overseeing a 10-member strong development team and assist team members when needed.

  • Provide development estimates and how level of effort impacts the priority of requirements.

  • Collaborates with Application support team, provides resolution to critical issues, assists them on the issues that are beyond their expertise.

  • Identify, research, and experiment with innovative technical solutions for various business challenges brought up by TPO and BPO (Technical Product Owner and Business Product Owner).

  • Solid grasp and demonstrable experience in global Agile Scrum/Squad delivery methodologies. Experience and applicable knowledge of all aspects of the product development lifecycle as well as Agile methodology. Proven experience in using development toolset such as Jira and Confluence.

  • Comfort in conveying sophisticated technical ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Member of collaborative environment for delivery team to discuss issues and engaging the right resources for solutioning.

  • Provide creative ideas to improve our overall operations, work with Objectives and Key Results to make the team and how we work always evolving – “continuous improvement”.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills

  • 7+ years of related hands-on technology experience

  • Experience with complex SQL, queries, DML, and DDL.

  • Experience with business processes

  • Experience working in teams of at least 10 - 15 people

  • Experience in building & supporting data warehouse and reporting systems.

  • Experience with external resource management

  • Approaches challenges with empathy and a desire to understand the experiences of those around them.

  • Able to lead & assist development team, collaborate and communicate within various projects.

  • Understand business process design, analyze user requirements, create high-level design, build or oversee build of system integration, testing and deployment. Present and explain technical solutions to the clients.

  • Proven sense of responsibility, dedication to quality and achieving milestones

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with both Teradata and Oracle RDBMS.

  • Knowledge or experience with Ariba (J&J branded: eMarketplace), purchase order and invoicing principles, SAP R/3, SAP S/4HANA, and JD Edwards

  • Experience with SOx validated systems.

  • Familiarity with Linux/UNIX command line interface

  • Experience with standard methodologies for product development, agile are all highly preferred.

  • Experience with Informatica, MS Azure and Databricks, and Cognos a plus.

Other:

  • Fluency in English is required.

  • This position may require up to 10 % travel

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$91,000 - $147,200.

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
