Job Description:

J&J Technology Services is recruiting for a Sr. Manager – Functional Engineering (FE) to be located in Raritan NJ or New Brunswick NJ.

Are you ready for a new challenge? The FE role is accountable to shape technology strategy and overall delivery of ServiceNow solutions within the Technology Services (TS) team. The role will work in partnership with Product Group Leaders to manage the backlog, monitor/control the timeliness and enable a high quality of work. Working across multiple business technology and product line groups, the FE will shape and deliver innovative solutions for the business which will require a balance of technical and business acumen to ensure delivery excellence.

The ServiceNow platform will deliver case management capabilities to J&J’s 130K employees globally supporting HR, payroll, expense reporting and procurement functions. This FE role reports to the Director, Technology Solutions and oversees the creation of teams of Technology Services resources to enable business capabilities and outcomes within the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Partner with Corporate Business Technology value stream leaders and product managers to shape ServiceNow technology solutions.

  • Responsible for ServiceNow Ecosystem Engineering and technology architecture definition, roadmap, and technical decisions for the product/platform in coordination with the Product Manager/Owners.

  • Accountable for ensuring that technical implementation is aligned to the architecture vision, economic framework and business needs.

  • Lead development/configurations and review cadence, align tech landscape across squads to promote reusability, scalability and modularity. Negotiate technology options and tradeoffs.

  • Lead squad(s) to problem-solve technical challenges and implement solutions; system design, code reviews, etc. Ability to do “hands-on-keys” coding/configuration if needed.

  • Help Product Owners/Lead Engineers in the prioritization of technical backlogs (across squads) and coach / mentor technical team members.

  • Collaborates with Application support team, provides resolution to critical issues, assists them on the issues that are beyond their expertise.Drive mitigation of technical risks and issues.

  • Observe technology trends across industry and conduct research spikes for new capability and innovation opportunities.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science, Business or related field.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands on ServiceNow experience (preferably in a leadership role).

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant Information Technology experience.

  • Significant skills/ technical acumen with the ServiceNow platform and products.

  • Proven hands-on technical leader across the ServiceNow ecosystem including data management, API architecture/design, web solutions, etc.

  • Experience defining strategic/technology roadmaps and shaping large/complex cross functional solutions.

  • Experience leading all aspects of ServiceNow product development within the Agile methodology.

  • Experience influencing without authority - strong interpersonal skills for written, oral, and face-to-face communications.

Preferred:

  • Significant knowledge of ServiceNow HRSD & Source to Pay modules across HR, payroll, expense reporting, and procurement - significant experience designing/implementing case management solutions for a reasonably large enterprise is a huge plus.

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and/or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist.

  • Experience with customer relationships and prior experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Experience working with external partners to bring global products/services to the market.

  • Experience working with operations, infrastructure, call center and application maintenance teams.

  • Ability to do “hands-on-keys” coding/configuration if needed.

  • Experience leading/ overseeing large supplier/vendor teams.

  • Knowledge of global corporate employee business functions.

  • Knowledge of reliability and observability principles.

  • Prior experience delivering technology solutions within a regulated industry.

  • Prior management and technology consulting experience.

Other:

  • 5-10% travel required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: $120,000- $207,000

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
