The Senior Manager, Global Product Innovation & Lifecycle Strategy, will be responsible for execution and pull through of strategies as we continue building and strengthening organizational capabilities to maximize Janssen’s portfolio value.

This includes, partnering closely with our legal partners supporting the organizational needs for assets throughout the development timeline (from discovery through marketed assets) to optimize and protect the lifetime value of the asset and serve more patients.

Additionally, this manager will collaborate across several key stakeholders including, but not limited to Global Commercial DAS leads, Global Market Access, Research & Development, Supply Chain, Legal and Regulatory partners to continue to optimize and implement novel approaches related to lifecycle innovation optimization, IP and LOE planning processes and internal integration.

Key elements of this role include establishing and continuously developing Janssen capabilities in:

  • Partner closely with commercial disease area teams and legal to continue to develop robust innovation patent strategies for prioritized assets building off the Early Development Asset Innovation Plans

  • Building and strengthening internal PVI operating capabilities on the to further integrate this strategic innovation planning approach and shape key strategic documents & help to inform investment decisions.

  • Identifying and planning for Janssen Intellectual Property across all aspects of the pharmaceutical innovation value chain, critical to enabling a sustainable innovation cycle and delivering on our Credo responsibilities to patients and to shareholders.

  • Develop and implement a valuation framework to measure impact of this planning process overtime while continuing to assist in educating broadly across the organization to inform best practices to help Protect the Value of Janssen Innovations (PVI).

  • Partner and coordinate closely with PICS Director of Product Innovation and Lifecycle Strategy leading the Early Development Asset Innovation Planning (AIP) process to ensure proper protection to the innovations identified is in place at the most appropriate time.

  • Key GSCO partner to the CHILD program to ensure appropriate Pediatric filing strategies are in place at the appropriate time in development

  • Enhance and deliver training materials/resources for the end-to-end lifecycle strategy planning process, as well as, general maintenance.

Essential Functions of the role:

  • Active initiatives include:

  • Pull through change management of PVI activity across Discovery and Development Asset

  • Optimization of Publications and IP Best Practice internal training and implementation

  • Asset Innovation Planning support

  • Collaborate closely with Regions to assess Janssen and competitive LOE timelines, and forecast implications for portfolio asset

  • Support Regions in local strategy and action planning related to LOE of Janssen and competitor assets, including synthesis of best practices and lessons learned, as well as extrapolation to future market dynamics

  • Partner with Legal, GCSO and R&D teams to create and deliver appropriate programs, resources and training materials to educate teams on these topics and the role they can play in value creation and protection in these areas.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, consulting or healthcare agency

  • Understanding of drug development processes and commercialization

  • Demonstrated track record of leading highly matrixed, cross-functional teams comprised of high-level managers and executives

  • Demonstrated high learning agility and problem-solving capabilities

  • Demonstrated track record of strong collaboration across geographies and functions, and strong communication skills

  • Global mindset and proven ability to partner cross culturally/regionally

  • Strong strategic mind, communication skills and ability to influence

  • Knowledge of J&J culture and portfolio preferred

  • Understanding of pricing and access environment

This position requires up to 15% travel (including international).

The base pay range for this position is $112,000 to $193,775. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs such as health insurance, savings plan, pension plan, disability plan, vacation pay, sick time, holiday pay, and work, personal and family time off in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
