VP Global Strategic Pricing

The Vice President, Global Strategic Pricing is responsible for developing capabilities and leading a high impact team that, develops, implements, and has oversite of performance of the pricing strategies for the global MedTech portfolio of products globally with gross sales of $27.4 Billion. This position is a member of the Commercial Excellence leadership team and serves as an internal consultant to senior franchise and region leaders including MedTech Leadership Team members, Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Global Strategic Marketing. This position plays a leading role in advising and counseling management in the development and implementation of new and existing business strategies and as a result, shares accountability for business results.

Develops and directs strategies to assure pricing is consistent and up to date across global markets. Carry outs regular review of all proposed price changes and new launch prices. Oversees evaluations of contracts and reports on their overall impact on the business. Ensures research is cost-effective product attributes and presents on economic value, target pricing, and cost drivers. Develops and implements global health economic and outcomes research strategies that develop, substantiate, and communicate the value of new products, licensing in opportunities and leading marketed products. Devises and ensures implementation of new pricing plans by refining the company's pricing and contracting strategies. Presents recommendations on pricing strategies vis-a-vis the changing marketplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads a global team that provides strategic leadership and direction for franchise strategic/business plans, brand strategies, new product launch plans, and long and short-range financial forecasts. Responsible for elevating team capabilities to deliver impact across the entire spectrum of long-term franchise strategy, business and portfolio optimization and near-term executional excellence. Accountable to create a team that influences business leaders in setting priorities for the business both at the global franchise and region levels thorough an understanding of the elements of strategic positioning, new product innovation, marketing and sales strategy and the application of business analytics

  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of 25 pricing professionals responsible for formulating the global access, pricing policies and strategies for all MedTech products and overseeing their implementation regionally and locally.

  • Operates as a trusted advisor to senior franchise and regional leaders, applying strategic and operational insights, and executive level problem solving, communication and leadership skills to influence leaders to drive organizational action that leads to tangible growth in revenue or profit.

  • Provides Strategic Pricing leadership with broad oversight of the team and activities for the franchises and regions. Leads a global team responsible for the following working collaboratively across several customer groups and enabling the team to effectively influence business leaders.

  • Sets franchise priorities with key franchise / commercial leaders

  • Organizes and optimizes resources against those priorities

  • Drives integrated problem solving across team to ensure that all resources are deployed against critical business issues

  • Interfaces with franchise leaders on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment of priorities against business needs

  • Where appropriate/necessary, drives resource deployment and prioritization tradeoffs across the organization

  • Enables global team to drive all areas of pricing insights for the franchise. Integrates and translates to business impact across sales and marketing. Optimize and refine the price management and analytics infrastructure, including: optimal and efficient processes and tools to handle policy and price approvals, net pricing actions and indication- and lifecycle pricing; analytical tools to monitor and predict outcomes of price policies and price evolutions, assess competitive behavior and generate pricing intelligence to create better insights ; and build a knowledge management system to understand national pricing and coverage systems and cross-border interdependencies

  • Responsible for recommending global Pricing policies aligned with value messaging and reimbursement and market access strategies, covering traditional public reimbursement and insurance systems, private healthcare insurance, and self-pay markets.

  • Develops an overall vision and aligned company positions on multiple facets of MedTech pricing, aligned with our positions on Global Access and innovation. Represents MedTech at external forums to advocate, explain and, if needed, adjust our positions to obtain support.

Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Uses understanding of information (patient, provider, payor, category, customer, competition), business practices, and P&L knowledge, to create strategies that lead to growth

  • Ability to influence others to a new or different perspective through use of compelling data and insights to positively impact achievement of business results
