Weyerhaeuser Maintenance Planner in Raymond, Washington

Weyerhaeuser's Raymond, Washington lumber mill is seeking a Maintenance Planner.

Raymond is a small town in western Washington’s Willapa Valley; its economy is based primarily on logging and fishing industries. Located on the Willapa Bay (the second largest estuary on the US Pacific coast), it is a prime destination for outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, clam digging, hiking, and boating. The bay is home to the “Oyster Capital of the World” (approximately 9% of all oysters in the US are grown here).

The Raymond facility, part of Weyerhaeuser’s Western Lumber mill set, consists of log yard, sawmill, dry kilns, planer and shipping operations. The mill currently manufactures kiln dried Hemlock and Doug Fir lumber products in support of the business’s strategic plan.

The Maintenance Planner is a key member of the operation’s maintenance team. It is a full time, exempt position, reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Functions:

  • Responsible for planning, workflow, materials, and equipment for the maintenance team in order to support a highly reliable, safe working environment.
  • Leads change and implementation of systematic processes required to achieve maintenance objectives which directly support manufacturing excellence.
  • Promote the concepts of teamwork, communicating will all departments to translate work requirements into clear and achievable plans.
  • Work directly with vendors, contractors, maintenance and purchasing to plan and prioritize maintenance work.
  • Determines and requisitions materials needed for work requests.
  • Development of the preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance monitoring programs for all mill equipment.
  • Utilize a computerized maintenance management system to effectively manage work to achieve 95% mill utilization in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Works with the department to adjust the maintenance program to increase mill utilization and/or decrease costs.
  • Work effectively in a small group to set mid and long-term goals and measure progress.
  • Plans for major mill maintenance shutdowns and other project work.
  • Prepares job plans for maintenance work in the mill, with safety instructions and special precautions as part of those plans, in standardized business format.
  • Coordinates with purchasing and vendors to ensure parts availability.
  • Maintaining maintenance and equipment records and generates reports such as open work orders, past due work orders, completed work orders, labor utilization by work order type, equipment historical cost analysis, etc.
  • Helps to identify critical spare parts outages.
  • Develops daily, weekly, and long-term maintenance schedules.
  • Track’s availability of crew resources.
  • Provides job estimates as required.

The Maintenance Planner will also be expected to role model safe work practices, identify/address safety issues and proactively support the sites safety, environmental, quality, production, and financial goals.

  • Candidate must be very strong in Microsoft Excel and proficient in use of other standard Microsoft Office products.
  • Can coordinate and prioritize purchasing, planning, and maintenance work with production requirements.
  • Will accept assignments and can work several assignments simultaneously and effectively.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well under pressure.
  • Willing to work any time in order to meet mill needs, including nights and weekends, and holidays if necessary.

Preferred Skills:

  • Has prior maintenance planning experience.
  • Has utilized a computer maintenance management system consisting of work orders, preventative maintenance, equipment records, purchasing, parts and materials specification, and spares; SAP experience preferred.
  • Excellent teaming and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and welding trades.
  • Prior work experience in a wood products manufacturing facility (ideally a lumber mill.
  • Interest and willingness to work toward advanced maintenance positions in the facility and/or with Weyerhaeuser.

What We Offer...

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $60k - $90k based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees
