The Opportunity

This position works out of our Richmond, IN location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. Millions of people around the world count on our leading brands – including Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, and Glucerna® – to help them get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest lives.

What You'll Work On

  • Coordinate and lead regulatory compliance activities related to the EHS programs and Abbott GEHS Technical Standards

  • Conduct workplace incident investigations, inspections, and internal audits

  • Manage all hazardous/universal waste activities including proper storage and disposal of all hazardous waste in compliance with all applicable regulations

  • Review new hazardous materials and assess incoming material for Safety Data Sheets (SDS), unique usage, storage characteristics, regulatory requirements, and exposure controls

  • Complete risk assessments based on sitewide incident trends, Behavior Based Safety (BBS) observations, employee concerns, and applicable global risk assessments

  • Maintain ISO 14001, 45001, and Zero Waste to Landfill Certifications

  • Manage the implementation of the facility’s Emergency Response, Business Continuity, and Spill Prevention Countermeasure Control plans

  • Utilize data to drive safety program and culture growth to eliminate EHS incidents and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements

  • Coordinate and conduct health and safety training

  • Provide on-call support for EHS emergencies and support

  • Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree In environmental studies, health sciences, or other applicable field

  • 2+ years experience inEnvironmental HealthandSafetyfield with both hands on and programmanagement

  • Ability to navigate and interpretEHSregulations.Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

  • Solid leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results

  • Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment

  • Solid verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner

  • Good organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable

  • Ability to travel approximately 5%, as needed

  • Ability to modify work schedule to support night shift, as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model

  • CertifiedSafetyProfessional (CSP)

The base pay for this position is $48,000.00 – $96,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
