This position plays a large role in helping to shape and operationalize the strategic agenda of CarMax’s digital Product organization. Responsibilities in this role include working with Product Management and Product Technology leadership to enable the organization to rally around a shared, bold vision; helping to bring clarity to large cross-functional efforts; elevating progress by supporting executive level and organization-wide communications; developing and managing internal and when appropriate, cross departmental communications programs, to drive interest and/or deliver key and consistent messages. In doing so, the role will work closely with the leaders of the Product organization. This position provides a strategic thinker who possesses strong management skills the opportunity to play a leadership role in bringing to life the strategy that will shape the future of a Fortune 500 retailer.
Essential Responsibilities
Create and manage communications process for Product to include being the central point of contact for Product communications
Develop and execute Product communication plans that educate and raise awareness for our growing suite of products and evolving Product org
Partner with Marketing and Internal Communications to ensure brand consistency in Product communications
Establish Product templates to ensure consistency in the look and feel of divisional communications
Work with Product Management and Product Technology leadership to maintain a communications strategy to inform executives, the broader Product organization, and cross-functional stakeholders on progress towards strategic objectives and performance
Consult with leaders, key stakeholders, and subject matter experts (i.e., Internal Communications, Public Relations, Human Resources, etc) to develop, manage, and implement strategic communications in Product
Partner with Internal Communications on strategies for any custom messaging related to enterprise-wide communications.
Research, develop and implement new and innovative communication mediums and tools to increase communication effectiveness and create excitement
Integrate change management and engagement principles into communication plan strategy to build awareness, desire, connection, and to enable action

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in communications or closely related field
Undergraduate degree in a business or communications-related discipline; Advanced degree preferred
Think creatively and strategically to address complex/critical issues with a proven track record of thought leadership
Take initiative and ‘make things happen’ with moderate supervision or guidance and with an analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset
Flex between big picture thinking and sharp attention to detail
Proven record of success developing and executing communication programs to support business goals, communication planning for large organizations preferred
Clearly articulate vision, objectives, and progress through exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication
Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization
Be courageous to motivate, influence and persuade across various levels of the organization
Develop and execute plans and proactively make improvements to processes
Proficiency with all MS Office 365 applications and intranet strategy
