DuPont’s Spruance, VA plant is looking to fill a position for Process Engineer to join our Tyvek® line of business. Tyvek® is a 100% synthetic material made from high-density spunbond polyethylene fibers. Lightweight, durable and breathable, yet resistant to water, abrasion, bacterial penetration and aging, Tyvek® is an amazing material used to improve a variety of applications across multiple industries. Tyvek® is available in both a hard structure, used for HomeWrap envelopes and medical packaging applications, and a soft structure, fabric-like finish used for protective apparel and consumer applications. Job Description:

This role is responsible for

  • Defining and delivering yield and productivity improvements that impact daily production of Tyvek® in their assigned area.

  • Implementing Grow & Improve projects, new product tests, and raw material qualifications that align with business objectives and coordinate with stakeholders in Research and Development (R&D), Process Safety Management (PSM), Manufacturing Technology (MT), Maintenance, Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S).

  • Providing advanced operations troubleshooting of daily process issues.

  • Leading Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) for uptime and yield incidents and driving actions to closure.

  • Leading and active participation in PSM in areas of Management of Change (MOC), Process Technology, and Process Hazards Analysis (PHA).

  • Preparing front end loading and basic data for capital projects and supports the area by participating in project design reviews.

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering discipline required (mechanical, chemical, industrial, electrical engineering).

  • 3-10 years of manufacturing or related experience required.

  • Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience preferred

  • Tyvek® Line of business experience preferred

Capabilities Required for this Role (Knowledge Skills & Abilities)

  • Experience and ability to work in a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week manufacturing environment.

  • An understanding of and desire to understand web handling, thin films, paper or nonwovens materials, their formation, winding, and conversion.

  • An understanding of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and automated process control in chemical processes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships with hourly and salaried co-workers and contractors.

  • A record demonstrating data based decisions and navigation through ambiguity in conflicting indicators to choose safe and effective directions for production operations and engineering.

  • Organization skills – has an ability to prioritize work and handle daily tasks and long term project needs.

  • Learning agility - A personal drive to learn, pivot when necessary, and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our company in the face of a changing world and customer base

  • Intellectual curiosity - Proactively investing time and energy into learning more and personally developing, in the interest of improving yourself and delivering better results
