Manager, Financial Technologies Support

About this job

The Financial Technology Manager’s primary responsibility is to partner with other FinTech technology leaders and the various business stakeholders on the operational support of the Oracle ERP Cloud system and other related financial technologies. Provide results-oriented guidance to internal and external support teams in monitoring and resolving system issues, as well as delivering modifications and enhancements as necessary. Closely communicate and coordinate with FinTech and Finance leaders in prioritizing work to ensure timely resolution to the most important issues and enhancements. This should all be done to support delivery of CarMax’s strategic mission and plans.

This Manager ensures process controls are followed and documented properly to ensure system stability, performance and desired functionality. They will also be the primary liaison to any 3rd Party support organization in carrying out the above responsibilities.

Responsibilities :

  • Work closely with the Global Finance Leaders to ensure the system stability and that it is performing as designed

  • Monitor track systems to ensure timely resolution to issues or requested enhancements

  • Ensure requested changes support the Global system template

  • Partner with the development, integration, and testing teams to produce quality and timely results.

  • Work closely with the other functional teams to ensure cross functional impact are identified, addressed and aligned

  • Make recommendations on system configuration to support business goals and objectives.

Experience & Skills:

  • 5 + years related experience with Oracle ERP Finance Module and Client System applications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion applications and PaaS technologies

  • Experience in AEC industry is preferred

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and functional judgment

  • Experience and creativity in troubleshooting data conversions, integrations, and/or software application problems

  • Experience managing multiple tasks & priorities to meet deadlines

  • Able to diagnose and solve process issues and evaluate impact on business. Able to provide alternative solutions as required

  • Able to solve complex problems using interpolative thought processes, an orderly approach to decision making, and recognizing similarities in past situations

  • Ability to influence others to gain support, and actively work to implement improvements in issue resolution processes

Position Requirements:

Strategic planning and results focus

  • Identify the appropriate goals for the support team 

  • Prioritizing objectives and provide a holistic approach to solution recommendations that includes ROI, time to market, scalability as well as alternative recommendations


  • Partner with business stakeholders, peer groups, the Technology management team and key associates. 

  • Communicate the vision to executive management while also providing guidance for the team to support the strategic direction. 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Attract, recruit, retain and coach a strong team of skilled and engaged associates aligned to the overall mission.Continually assess the make-up of the 3rd parties team to support CarMax’s needs.

  • Create clear role expectations and develop associates and contractors to reach their full potential – understand their goals and needs, partner in their development, provide advice, feedback, training and advocacy


  • Continue to grow one’s knowledge base and stay current with industry trends while also formulating a technology plan for each business area based on in-depth understanding of the current business needs and their future direction.

Design and Review

  • Active participant in project design meetings providing vision and guidance

  • Applies technical knowledge in specialty areas for position

Customer Interaction / Business Knowledge

  • Builds positive relationships with customers and contacts in supported business areas

  • Interact with the customer including understanding of requirements and proposed solutions

  • Must courageously influence the processes and barriers to delivery on support SLAs in order to best represent the customers’ requirements and needs

  • Must continually seeks opportunities to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen client relations



  • BS/BA degree - IT related, preferred

  • 7+ years of experience in Information Technology with 3+ years of application systems development and implementation

  • 3+ years’ experience managing direct reports, preferred

  • 3+ years of experience required leading software projects leveraging Agile practices, required

  • Experience implementing Enterprise level software solutions.SaaS implementation experience is preferred with an emphasis on Cloud ERP

  • A working knowledge of Cloud and Cloud Integration to Legacy systems is preferred

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Technology Innovation Center or Dallas Tech Hub in Plano, TX and have a Hybrid work arrangement
