The Copy Manager oversees the creation, development, and implementation of all written content produced by the company. This includes US Foods exclusive brands initiatives, as well as managing and providing support to the creative writing team to meet copy needs across multiple functional, multi-channel, and all digital areas. Direct and write the voice for the entire brand, working cross-functionally with other senior creative leaders, marketing, product development, merchandising, legal and regulatory. This position will have a deep passionate understanding of the company’s brand, associates, processes, business goals and culture to develop and execute effective second to none copy strategies. The Copy Manager will coordinate all copy projects, to include planning, execution and evaluation with internal and external resources.

New Ways of Work : This position has been segmented as hybrid meaning the work is a combination of 3 days onsite In Rosemont, IL (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and 2 days remotely (Monday, and Friday) as defined by the role segmentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write and edit copy for various channels, including but not limited to website content, advertising campaigns, email marketing, social media posts, and product descriptions..

  • Develop and execute content strategies aligned with the company's overall marketing and branding objectives.

  • Creates exciting and unique brand and product stories that resonate with our customers.

  • Develops and maintains brand style guides. Ensure consistency in brand voice, tone, and messaging across all communication channels

  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform content strategies and messaging.

  • Attends meetings and makes presentations to company stakeholders as necessary.

  • Presents creative concepts to cross functional teams to ensure communication of the brand strategy and execution of the concept.

  • Manages copy development, including overall organization, flow, direct fact checking, appropriate referencing, fair balance and other regulatory requirements in partnership with Legal.

  • Lead and manage a team of copywriters, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure high-quality output and adherence to deadlines.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, and product development, to ensure alignment and integration of messaging across all channels.

  • Partners with Creative leadership to ensure copy and design are aligned to deliver product and brand stories.

  • Adheres to demands of production schedule. Be aware of release schedule and devote time necessary to meet deadlines.

SUPERVISION :

  • 1 Copywriter internal and 3 Copywriters external agency

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Creative, Marketing, Business, Analytics, Ecommerce and IT partners

  • External: Marketing Agencies, digital, ecommerce content and social media agencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Hybrid : This role is partially remote, and the associate is expected to perform assigned responsibilities from a combined home-based and office-based environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess minimum of 7 years of agency or in-house agency multi-channel experience

  • Proven experience in copywriting and content creation, in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Deep experience with crafting marketing copy, both from a product and content perspective.

  • Experience collaborating with senior-level management and executives on crafting brand identity and articulating it through messaging and copy.

  • Experience partnering with Design leaders to tell a brand's story through a seamless marriage of copy plus visuals.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.

  • Proficiency in content management systems, SEO principles, and digital marketing tools.

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to content creation and advertising.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.

  • Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and brand building

  • An influencer with excellent communication, cross-group collaboration, and planning skills with a strict attention to detail.

  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite and Word

  • Less than 10% of travel

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required

  • Experience from in-house food company or B2B preferred

  • Knowledge of basic AI and HTML helpful
