For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role_ /Carries out day-to-day management of cross connection program ensuring water systems comply with regulations and that proper backflow prevention assemblies are installed so that contamination or pollution of the water supply does not occur. Provides technical support on cross connection control and regulatory compliance issues. Ensures Company policy on Cross Connection Control is implemented. Assists with Source Water Protection activities such as technical support for monitoring equipment, routine data analysis, and other necessary activities./ _ Key Accountabilities_ * Supervises the local enforcement of the cross connection control program to ensure compliance with regulations, company tariffs, and the American Water cross connection best operating procedure (BOP). * Provides training to personnel in the proper management of established cross connection/backflow protection programs. * Educates & trains employees, contractors, regulators, local officials and customers with regards to the cross connection/backflow protection programs. * Develops, implements, and monitors work plans to achieve goals and objectives for the department. * Develop relationships with federal, state, and local regulators relating to Cross Connection Control. * Perform technical inspections and field surveys, testing and maintenance of cross connection control devices and backflow assemblies to ensure protection of water supply systems. * Assists Source Water Protection with technical support for monitoring equipment operation, maintenance, routine data analysis, and maintaining potential site of contamination data in Water Suite. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Good to excellent working knowledge of all Federal, State, and local requirements for Cross Connection and Backflow Prevention regulations, guidance or statutes. * Thorough knowledge of water quality and environmental regulations affecting the business preferred. _ Experience/Education_ * High school diploma required; associates degree or higher preferred. * Two (2) to (4) four years experience in water, wastewater, or management of cross connection control programs. * Required to obtain and maintain a Backflow Tester Certification within 1 year of hire. _ Work Schedule_ * Full-time * Monday-Friday, daylight hours * On-call responsibility _ Travel Requirements_ * Local and overnight travel to districts may be required. _ Work Environment_ * Substantial time may be spent in the field visiting customers, answering questions on backflow device installation, and performing site inspections. _ Competencies_ Champions safety Collaborates Cultivates innovation Customer obsessed Drives Results Nimble learning * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
