Job Summary

Under general supervision, uses knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to perform daily operational work for the middle office derivatives desk. This includes valuing multiple derivative portfolios, preparing profit and loss reports daily, making collateral calls, entering trades, preparing trade confirmations, preparing and disseminating market value statements and periodic interest statements, and utilizing cash to gain the greatest return on cash balances. Evaluation, originality and ingenuity are required to locate, select and apply appropriate procedures, processes and techniques to specific assignments. Resolves or recommends solutions to potential problems. Regular contact with management and other internal customers is required to identify, research, and resolve derivative issues and problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily support of derivative operations (Interest Rate Swaps, Exotic Swaps, and FX forwards).

  • Support includes the entire life cycle including: trade entry, trade confirmation, P&L calculation, collateral management, DTCC trade reporting, and reconciliation processes.

  • Answering collateral calls and act as a contact to resolve disputes and collateral transfers.

  • Analyzing data/reports/MTMs received from street counterparties.

  • Maintaining and assisting with onboarding/client request for information.

  • Help solve problems and incorporate new processes to mitigate risks.

  • Anticipate issues that may adversely affect the operational support of all derivative products and working to reduce the risk of occurrences.

  • Proactively seek ways to improve current processes by leveraging the tools available to identify inefficiencies.

  • Cultivating both internal and external relationships to ensure proper service levels are achieved and communicating operational support changes and initiatives to all impacted areas.

  • Keeping abreast of industry initiatives and market trends that can impact our business model and/or offer opportunities to improve our processes.

  • Assist in all audit activities (Internal Audit, Regulatory, External Audit, etc.).

  • Maintain proper controls records in compliance with internal and external audit and procedural guidelines.

  • Assist in Reconciling general ledger accounts to management reports.

  • Prepares/ reviews reports of financial information for management.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • Fixed Income, Derivative, and FX Instruments.

  • Excel spreadsheets, Macros, Pivot tables.

  • Bloomberg.

Skill in

  • Ability with Microsoft Excel: V-LookUp, Pivot Tables, VBA, Macro building a plus.

Ability to

  • Navigate complex legal documents (ISDA, Master Agreements, etc.) to extract information.

  • Implement changes to standard procedures when required by specific situations and circumstances.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all organizational levels.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Provide a high level of customer service.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Mathematics/Economics and one (1) to two (2) years experience in the financial services industry.

  • OR

  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

  • None required.
